We are huge fans of interactive toys in our house; I think a lot of kids are. I always think it is crazy what is available now compared to when I was a child. I would have gone nuts. I can see the pull of interactive toys, as it makes you really feel you are looking after something real! Especially, if it reacts to you and you can love and care for it. We have tested out a few on the blog in the past and we really thrilled to be reviewing Rizmo from Tomy. My eldest spied itimmediately in a very generous gift we were sent from Tomy this year and wanted to try it out straight away.

Rizmo has been named in the Dream Toys Top 12 and should be very popular with kids this Christmas time. Aimed at children aged 6 years and over, Rizmo is a toy that transforms, grows and actually listens, learns and remembers! He has crashed down from outer space and is looking for lovely people to look after him! Sometimes you see the description of a toy and think "that sounds weird, but it's probably just communicated poorly". I'm here to tell you today that Rizmo is exactly as weird as it sounds, and it's glorious. Rizmoic has been shown to improve bowel movement in patients taking opioids pain medicines for long-term pain (including cancer pain). Furthermore, the side effects of Rizmoic, which mainly affected the gut, were mostly mild or moderate. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. When you are ready to stop playing with Rizmo you can swing him to sleep. Don’t forget to turn him off at his base to give him a real rest.When you first open Rizmo it is in a baby form. It has two coloured eyes, a button on the nose and two feet which allow it to move up and down. How many settings does baby Rizmo have? To choose the game you want to play you must press the button on top of Rizmo’s head. Change his eyes to the required game and swing him down to confirm. He will confirm your selection by saying ‘Ready Go!’. Studies have shown that Rizmoic is effective at improving bowel movement in patients who are currently taking laxatives or had taken laxatives in the past.

In two of the studies, involving 1095 patients taking opioids for chronic (long-term) pain caused by a condition other than cancer, 50% of patients taking Rizmoic for 12 weeks achieved the desired outcome, compared with 34% of patients taking placebo. The European Medicines Agency therefore decided that Rizmoic’s benefits are greater than its risks and it can be authorised for use in the EU.You will know when Rizmo is ready to evolve as his eyes will start to flash different colours. Little E absolutely loves her Rizmo, from baby form to the fully evolved grown-up she has loved interacting with it. She loved the challenge of collecting enough music points and singing songs for him to save. I think it took her about three days of completing tasks to make him a full grown-up. Rizmo will make sounds of musical instruments when you move him up, down, left and right. His mood will determine the sounds he makes. The most common side effects with Rizmoic in patients without cancer (which may affect up to 1 in 10 people) are abdominal pain (belly ache), diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. In patients with cancer, the most common side effects were diarrhoea (seen in more than 1 in 10 people) and abdominal pain (seen in up to 1 in 10 people). The majority of side effects in patients with or without cancer were mild to moderate. The length of time it takes to evolve Rizmo depends on how you play with it. You will need to have recorded a minimum of 15 things and collect musical points through play. I managed to evolve mine from baby to kid in 15 minutes, it then took an additional 25 minutes to evolve it into adult mode. However if you fail to interact with it properly while it is evolving then you need to start again. How do you play with Rizmo in kid mode? The studies compared Rizmoic with placebo (a dummy treatment) to see if treatment would consistently increase the number of patients who can pass stools and allow them to do so at least 3 times a week during treatment.In two other studies, involving 307 patients taking opioids for cancer pain, 74% of patients taking Rizmoic for two weeks achieved the desired outcome compared with 36% of patients taking placebo. Rizmo is for ages 6 plus although children at the younger age may need help to evolve Rizmo as it does take some patience. What batteries does Rizmo need?

Rizmo also gets moody when you ignore him. This was pretty funny, as we were watching a film and suddenly he started making all these crazy noises! He looked and sounded sulky! We had to press his button a few times and give him some attention to snap him out of it!! Instead of Rizmo’s eyes changing colour in grown-up mode, his chest changes colour. Just like in baby mode use his head button to confirm the game you wish to play with him, not forgetting to swing him down to confirm. In grown-up mode, you can play all the same games as in baby mode but you have two extra choices.When fully evolved Rizmo has a light-up stomach and has gained two new play modes and he can also get very grumpy. The two new play modes are Pink which is dance mode and light blue which is a colour game. Rizmo can also get grumpy if ignored so you need to give him lots of love and attention. Can Rizmo be evolved again? Constipation is the most common side effect of opioid pain medicines and many standard laxatives are not effective in treating the condition.
