Instax Mini 11 is Fujifilm's new entry-level snapshot for instant photos in the Instax Mini format. It is the first model in the lower price segment to have automatic exposure control. This measures the ambient light as soon as the shutter button is pressed. By automatically adjusting the shutter speed and flash intensity to the prevailing conditions, the camera reveals more detail right from the start. Easy to Use Selfie Mode If you have more than one subject at various distances within the 0.3 to 2.7m flash range, the closest one will likely be too bright, and while that would be true of any flash, here you don’t have the option to turn the flash off. There's no way to manually disable the flash, which fires automatically with every shot – whether it's really needed or not. It’s a shame to think that I can't really use the Instax Mini 12 to its best potential when the sun is out, and improvements here would top my wish list for a successor that we might reasonably expect to land in 2026.

I personally found I still had trouble centring close-ups and standard shots with the viewfinder, but then instant photography isn’t really about getting the most perfectly framed shots every time. Performance and image quality Not only is the Instax 12 more technically advanced than its predecessor, it also looks better too, a crucial consideration for its target market who are looking for fun as well as competence. But that’s not all the Close-up mode is good at. When activated, the adjustable viewfinder neatly pairs up with the lens, so what you see if what you get. (FYI the fancy term for this is parallax correction.) Because when you’re this close, there’s no room for error.The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 refines the previous model by enhancing the picture quality, improving the close-up/selfie mode, refining the operation and adopting a more fun bubble-like design. Taken together, these help to keep the Instax Mini 12 at the top of the budget-level instant film camera heap. For the most accurate framing, the 'O' seen in the middle through the viewfinder should be positioned slightly up and to the right of centre to your subject. If you switch to landscape format with the flash still on top, then the 'O' should be slightly to the upper left of centre.

Push the lens barrel release and it extrudes using a spring mechanism, with the built-in flash activating automatically. Landscape format is more accommodating, but it's a little more awkward to hold the camera and operate the shutter release button in this orientation.

Image Quality

There's no way to disable the flash, no self timer, and no tripod thread on the bottom. This is about as simple as instant cameras get.
