I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and am adding Karen Rose to my list of favorite romantic suspense authors. I knew I wanted to read Steven Thacker's story after reading Don't Tell and I wasn't disappointed - much. He is afraid of sleeping in his own bed, he won't smile anymore, and most heartbreaking of all, he won't hug his father. He constantly lashed out at her and acted like a jealous, petulant jerk 90% of the time, and there were a couple of times that I thought she would have been within her rights to slap him good.

On the up side, the thing I really loved about Stephen was that he is a rare celibate hero who actually believes that if he has sex with a woman he better be prepared to marry her, and so consequently doesn't sleep around.The first part of book was dedicated to creating character profiles and the bases of the romantic involement of the two principle characters. A dark secret keeps Chicago assistant state's attorney Kristen Mayhew as tightly wound as the springy red curls she works to pin down.
