About this deal

The police department, known as the Met, has more than 34,000 officers, about 2,500 of whom are licensed to carry firearms.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Firearms cover at airports, parliament and relating to the royal family and diplomatic protection is not being affected by some officers pulling out of armed patrols. London's Armed Police Today is a must have for anyone with an interest in modern policing or police firearms matters. Certain police forces that have high gun crime rates have set up an FIU to gather intelligence on gun crime, or certain parts of the community it may affect. Before a major reconstruction of the rules regarding operational use of firearms, high-ranking officers such as Chief Inspectors or Superintendents could authorise firearms officers to draw weapons from an Armed Response Vehicle (ARV), in the event of an "immediate threat to life".It covers more subjects than I can count, ranging from the selection, training, equipment, operational history etc to daunting details of the officers accounts/experiences behind the guns when firing at a suspect and the aftermath of such an action. A “limited number” of armed officers from other departments are still providing assistance in other areas of policing. Trained in Explosive method of entry (EMOE) and tactical insertions from helicopters to name a few new tactics they use. The AFOs first on scene would attempt to contain an armed subject if they are inside a building, whereas if they were in the open where an immediate threat is posed a quicker solution would be sought.

No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. In the Metropolitan Police the issue of firearms to stations was standardised with; ten pistols with 320 rounds of ammunition issued to divisional stations, six pistols with 192 rounds per sub-divisional station, and three pistols with 96 rounds to each section station. Source) Furthermore, the unit’s predecessors were also present at the infamous 1980 Iranian Embassy Siege. In this massacre, two fugitives shot and killed three police officers in cold blood while evading apprehension. The book covers some interesting incidents and subjects, some never before mentioned but without giving away tactics that could endanger these courageous men and women whom we rely on to do the job. Not long later on, I found myself on crowd control outside the Iranian Embassy in 1980, when it was stormed by the SAS and from that moment, I set a path in my police career that would eventually see me working on the Met's Specialist Firearms Unit (now SCO19) from 1991 through to retirement in 2013. Source) As mentioned, in 2012, the unit was named SCO19 due to the merger of Central Operations (CO) and Specialist Crime Directorate (SCD). Examples of tactical units include Ireland's Garda Emergency Response Unit and Australian Police Tactical Groups. Specialist Firearms Officer are qualified as an AFO, with extra training within a specific area, such as specialist weapons, Close Protection, Tactical Medicine, Tactics Advice, Advanced Police Driving or Police Firearms Instruction, and are commonly the firearms officers to assault a building in a hostage situation.
