About this deal

Flowers for the Devil is a seductive and lushly dark Victorian romance with the cadence of a gothic fairytale in the same vein as Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast. It is of the man who committed atrocious crimes but stood, one dark night, in front of me, shaking, saying, “My good sir, I have done nothing wrong. The Mountain Devil Flower Essence offers you a sense of freedom as you begin to let go of underlying unwanted emotions – sometimes invoking a sense of pent-up steam being allowed to release. Alsooo I am famous for throwing my book away when I’m overwhelmed with what someone just said or did in the story.

Supposedly only witches can germinate it, and if a virgin tries to sow parsley seeds she will be doomed to carrying the Devil’s child.

Look- They marry, he doesn’t kill people anymore, we find out what the title (Flowers for the Devil) meant and now we’re here. Flowers for the Devil” is a dark Victorian romance with tormented villain/ strong heroine/ forbidden love/ secret identity/ diverse characters tropes. However the edition that arrived was not the same as pictured therefore unsuitable for our collection.

My heart was so hungry for a story such as this, one which had characters of different races and cultures. The positive attributes of the Mountain Devil Flower Essence therefore are that your life will begin to sweeten as those “devils” within are relinquished. As this process unfolds you may be able to gain new perspectives regarding situations that previously may have irked you in some way.

Disclaimer: the blurb gives the impression there could be a love triangle, there is no love triangle 100% and no poly romance. I wanted to keep the review short but I will expand on one particular issue because I felt it summarises my experience of the book. The love triangle is the only one I have ever actually liked, and the thoughtfulness that went into describing poverty is so good. If you’ve read our previous “Otherwordly October” posts, you’ll have seen Deadly Nightshade in Poison Gardens and understand why it’s ended up here. She was a widow at 22, a Russian countess living among the English, and a nurse by trade hoping to become a doctor. These frustrations will most often be triggered by those closest to us or those we work or socialise with. but the author has a remarkable gift for revealing human beings—many of them—including Ercelia’s somewhat superstitious parents, the handsome and sexually powerful Don Miguel, Father Anacleto, and (exceedingly well) the three declining beauties.

The climax and resolution stretched endlessly, but everything else compensated for this little detail. No tengo nada más que decir salvo que que lástima terminarlo, porque podría estar leyendo su historia toda la vida. If such an occasion arises we will make every effort to replace the item with a suitable alternative. The stalking here was mostly finding things out about her through gossip or as him as a person and not his nightly persona.
