Now living in Ryan’s apartment with no obligations other than working on getting back on her feet, Zoey’s confusion with the kindness he shows her eventually morphs into trust, and though she tries to fight it, she slowly makes a place for herself in his life and likes the person she’s become at his side. I struggle with authors who insist on writing FMC in the gaze of whiteness and it's beauty standards as if there aren't all kinds of gorgeous and feminine and lovely women of all shapes and sizes and colors who are desireable and kick ass.

I gave it four stars because the characters were written gently and thoughtfully , and I just enjoyed the experience of reading it. This story was more character driven than the last, meaning that though the hockey aspect was important to the plot, the characters and their arcs were the main focus of this story. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find that nearly all my problems in the first book were IMMENSELY IMPROVED in this installment. After sooooo many misses from the New Adult /Kindle Unlimited realm of romance, I FINALLY found a winner.

I just could not take this book seriously, adding (more like trying) thriller aspects towards the end of the book was also just unnecessary. Every book in this series does have a suspense aspect where there's a villain, which I actually like!I know that normally, just because it is a hockey romance, I’m going to enjoy it but this series is REALLY good.

Again the chemistry between these two sizzles and as they fight their attraction they give in a bit, then back off because of various reasons, then gravitate towards one another and again back off. To be honest, it would have been one thing if she wanted to add a lot of plot points but to add so many and then resolve them so poorly is the real crime. The story itself is a good one - a cinderella start to the fairy tale ending, but there is a lot of frustrated eye rolls in there and a few are you kidding me's too.
