About this deal

The final page unites the characters from earlier pages with a reassuring message for readers: “Just because the sun has set, / doesn’t mean it will not rise. I don't know if it's my mood or what, but the message in this book seems too blatant and "in your face".

Perhaps, after studying the illustrations and gaining further insight into the comments, kids will reread and reflect upon them further. This book also links to the seasons as there is a point in the book where the robot is sat on the scrap heap for a whole year through all the seasons. Day turns into night, Autumn into Winter, as he lies there, and this is beautifully and simply portrayed in four consecutive pictures. An exhausted, migrating Bluebird shelters where the Robot’s heart used to be; he builds her a nest of wires. He proclaims that he never really draws images from real life instead he feels he utilizes his imagination for every illustration, forming patterns and shapes as a part of his work.

I think this story will provide rich content for our literacy lessons, and it's a great one to delve into what's on the inside, and not just what's on the outside. The main idea of the project is to create an open source hardware and software robotic platform that can be easily adapted to do several tasks. Ik wist wel dat ik dit boek zou liefhebben, de cover alleen al is geweldig en de blurb maakt het nog mooier. A Tin Man — like robot with a broken heart finds purpose in one of two books this fall by Lucas (Halibut Jackson) to feature an ingenuous creature navigating an uncertain world (the other is Candlewick's Peanut, about a confused monkey). As a child he enjoyed drawing and writing, and he went on to study at St Martin’s School of Art and then the Royal College of Art.It is only when a bluebird, tired from journeying, takes harbour in the space with his heart once was that his life and purpose changes.

The robot offers her a permanent home there, and when she explains that she must travel south he offers to take her. Readers of Lucas's previous titles will find his style as distinctive and his words as warming as ever. This fable-like tale, bursting with bright, winsome illustrations, is a fresh take on the timeless themes of friendship and second chances. this modern fable about the power of love to regenerate unfolds at a gentle pace and to great effect. A heartwarming tale of a robot, with a broken heart, who finds a purpose again, when he meets a small, tired bluebird. The story is sweet and sad and can teach kids some good things, but it awkwardly worded and even more awkwardly illustrated, to the point when a kid tells a completely different story, based on the illustrations, that has very little in common with what is written. The children earn stickers for any home-learning brought in so once they have finished a piece so please bring it in to school. In a depersonalized factory, working robots attempt to fix what remains of the central character's heart — two springs and an open door — before sending him to the scrap heap with 'all the other old machines.
