IF you like delicious hearty meals that can be served quickly and easily to the whole family, then chances are you'll love Salter's Air Fryer, the Aero Grill Pro. They were wonderfully golden and juicy; thankfully the non-stick lining in its circular pan isn’t too difficult to hand-wash afterwards, though we noticed it’s one of the heavier models compared with other air fryers we tested. I was sceptical about the health benefits of air frying but my mind has been opened up to the many options available - particularly the child-friendly meals that could be created from scratch with fresh ingredients but a crispy, fried finish to keep the kids happy. The default is 15 minutes at 180 degrees, which is useful as a one-touch control to cook most things. You can use either side independently of the other, allowing you to cook one dish only, or to cook two foods – each can have its own different settings if needed.

We found the unboxing and setting up of the Aero Grill a simple and easy process and although the machine doesn’t take up a lot of space (much less than a small microwave) it is quite heavy and is best kept in one place rather than moving around. With 12 preset functions and drawers deep enough to accommodate a small whole chicken, this is a good entry-level model for dual-drawer air frying. If you’re hoping to impress someone with a morning fry up, the Dual Air would probably blow the surprise. It’s extremely helpful to dial up two different programmes, then just start the Dual Air running and have it deliver everything ready at the same time. We also loved that the cooking time is significantly reduced (sometimes to even less than half of that in a traditional oven) and while you do need to clean each bowl between uses, it's worth it for air fried food that is delicious, flavourful and much healthier than traditional frying.

If you’re cooking double quantities, the match-cook setting saves you from having to programme the drawers twice.
