And this is exactly what a magnifying light does: it magnifies the area of your stitching and provides a good white light that mimics the natural light. It can also be run from batteries which may be of use to some people, I doubt that I would need this.

I was looking for a white light magnifying lamp, steady and flexible enough to be able to move it around where I need to. The end embroidery pieces are much neater, without really improving my skills, it was all about the light and being able to see the fine stitches better! Not sure I'll ever use it on a table as the base is pretty large, but this just makes it super sturdy when on the floor. See the finest of detail with perfect clarity, allowing you to work for much longer without straining your eyes.
