After pressure cooking, the steam release valve will need to be flicked to the vent position to release the steam. Keep Warm mode is not intended to warm food from a cold state but to keep it warm at a food‐safe temperature (75°C) after cooking is complete. The Ninja Foodi 7-in-1 is the largest model at 43cm high, which is 8cm higher than the Max 9-in-1 so make sure you have the space under your cupboards if you choose this one.

The 25 minute cook time is only slightly longer than cooking it on the stove, but the results were perfect and it’s nice not to have to watch over it. The 11-in-1 does not have the ‘steam meals’, ‘steam bread’‘steam roast’ or ‘prove’ cooking functions and does not have the digital cooking probe either. If you’re looking for a way to quickly air fry or roast a whole chicken without dirtying your oven, want to make super speedy curries using the pressure cooker, slow-cook a chilli, or enjoy healthy, steamed proteins and vegetables, this is an excellent appliance for all those things and a few more besides. They do have multiple cooking functions and you can achieve most of the same results in a standard multi cooker that you can with the SmartLid model but it you will have to use multiple functions instead of pressing one button and letting the cooker get on with it, like steaming/pressure cooking first and then air fry instead of steam air fry for example. The Air Fry/Hob mode presents an even wider variety of cooking methods – Air Fry, Grill, Bake, Dehydrate, Sear/Sauté, Steam Slow Cook and Yogurt, while the Pressure function locks the lid firmly and is only used for pressure cooking.

The removable cooking pot has a non-stick coating to make it easy to clean but it’s also dishwasher safe.

We used several different cooking methods and made some delicious meals with this easy-to-use appliance. The pressure release is easy but does involve putting your hands near the area where the steam is released, you can make this safer by using tongs to move the valve. I was so gobsmacked with the result of the chicken legs that I decided try the same bœuf bourguignon recipe I used for the Sage Fast Slow Go and I have no complaints whatsoever with the result.

We will compare the SmartLid multi cookers separately from the standard model multi cookers because they offer something completely different. Once the cooking cycle has been completed you can move the SmartLid Slider to the Air Fry/Hob position (position 2) and finish with the crisping method of your choice or simply utilising the Air Fry function. As we mentioned above the Ninja Foodi 11-in-1 SmartLid Multi-Cooker is known as the Ninja Foodi 14-in-1 6.

Like when using the steam only function it emits lots of steam from the vent at the back and the noise level is similar to air frying. Press the up or down arrows on the right of the display to adjust the cook temperature and/or pressure level. So successful have they been that other brands have, ahem, taken inspiration from Instant Pot and made their own multi-purpose cookers. Granted, it all seemed a bit confusing at first, but I stuck to the manual and made good use of the accompanying tip sheet and soon got the hang of it. This rotund beast is a multi-faceted monster that not only meets all the criteria of an ‘instant pot’– or ‘Instant Pot-style product’ more accurately – it also roasts meat to perfection.Previous versions required you to use a separate lid for cooking, so this is a welcome change that makes it easier to switch between modes and also saves on space. Close the lid, slide the SmartLid Slider™ above the display to switch between modes and use the dial to select the desired function. It’s very nicely styled, too – indeed, to my mind it’s better looking than the silver-clad Sage Fast Slo Go I recently reviewed. When pressure cooking is complete and the KEEP WARM light comes on, turn the pressure release valve to the VENT position to release the steam. The pressure release valve’s loose fit is intentional; it enables a quick and easy transition between SEAL and VENT and helps regulate pressure by releasing small amounts of steam during cooking to ensure great results.

So for instance, when you select the Combi-Steam function, it provides two type of cooking methods: Steam Air Fry and Steam Bake.

Having already reviewed the similarly-styled Sage Fast Slow Go which had its plus and minus points, I didn’t expect much difference from the Ninja.
