Most dynamic and best of the classic EJ records, barring Tumbleweed Connection, which is a necessity. Elton John has been one of the dominant forces in rock and popular music, especially during the 1970s. That said, I really enjoy this one because I owned it when it was first released and it brings me back to my childhood.

According to RIAA, he has sold 79 million albums in the United States, making him the 6th-best-selling male solo artist in history. yeah, this is far from a audiophile pressing and the likes of Kevin Grey, Bernie Grundman or Bob Ludwig are nowhere to be found.I suppose it can be a bit nostalgic because the songs sound like they did when I first heard them through the tinny speakers in my parent's 1964 Chrysler Newport station wagon.

No midrange punch, or true instrument separation, it’s actually fairly one dimensional and clearly compressed, however there is a decent soundstage. John has continued to record new music since then, including the albums Songs from the West Coast (2001), The Diving Board (2013), Wonderful Crazy Night (2016), and The Lockdown Sessions (2021).
