About this deal

We were given an Orchard Toys What a Performance Board Game for the purpose of this review all opinions are my own As with all Orchard Toys games, What a Performance does have some educational benefits. It promotes imaginative play, encourages personal and social skills and can encourage group play. I think one of the biggest things we noticed with it, was it was really great for getting him to think about how to follow the instructions. This gave him more confidence to stand up and be silly, which is an essential life skill, or it is in my book. I am always drawn to Orchard Toys because of the educational nature of the games. What a Performance game is no different.

Orchard Toys What a Performance Board Game Review Orchard Toys What a Performance Board Game

This well-paced spelling game is ideal for children aged 5 to 9 and it's a fun way to reinforce those spelling skills as well as word recognition - children will hardly realise they are learning! There are 17 word cards and 67 letter cards. Place these face down on the table and then players take it in turns to build words by turning over a word card and finding the letter cards to spell out the word. The action is kept going as players race against the sand timer to spell out their words... when the time runs out, the letters have to be passed on to the next player. The winner is the player who has managed to complete the most words when the pile is used up. There are many different ways in which the game can be used to enhance literacy skills, and for younger players it can be played without the timer - or give them two goes! It can either be played as a game for two to four players, or simply see how many words you can make with your child. It's good to help with letter recognition - we tried using nonsense words, just like the phonics screening and that was fun! Buy from Orchard Toys. We live in a society which increasingly makes less use of cash, but it's still essential for children to experience handling money - and games are a great way to do this. Money Match Cafe is the perfect educational game for 5-8 year olds, developing skills in addition and money handling...with lots of imaginative play added into the mix. Ideally, to enjoy the game to its best, children will already have some knowledge of money.

At the end of the game the first one to reach the finish wins the star. The game is quite fun and this is certainly a keeper. The game is really fun. It is aimed at kids aged 5 plus to adults and my daughter and her friend who are both 10 years old really enjoyed playing this game. What a Performance is a properly fun game. It’s just the thing for building a bit of confidence whilst having a whole lot of fun!

To aim of the game is to be the first to get from the start to the finish. As you move along the board children have to either, Act, Say or Do. Their are also hidden forfeits on the front of the cars which can be read using a red magnifying glass and that makes the game even more fun!

It’s all very simple and really lots of fun. The game had us doing monkey and dinosaur impressions, sit ups, touching our toes, it had us wiggling our ears and talking in silly voices. It was tremendous fun and just the kind of thing to bring out the silly in anyone. We have been fortunate enough to work with Orchard Toys for many years. And have tried out a number of their games some of our favourites are listed below: The idea of the game itself is a real win as its so different from anything else we have ever played. Hands-on learning is so often the best; we can encourage our children to do workbooks about money (and these certainly have their place) but playing games is much more fun and will really instill the principles in a way they will remember - and they will see it as fun. This fun shopping board game will teach children about handling money and giving change as they travel around the board from shop to shop, using pretend money to buy all manner of different items.

Orchard Toys What a Performance! Game, An Action and

The game is fairly simple to set up. You put the jigsaw board together, this comes in four pieces and takes seconds to do. You choose which colour you will be, red, green, yellow or blue and take your playing pieces and put them at the start. We really like the Orchard Toys “What a performance” game and my daughter will be playing this again. That’s for sure. The box contains a jigsaw game board, 100 activity cards, a spinner, a sand timer; a card holder, a performance star, four character stands; four playing pieces, a magic decoder, a dice and an instruction leaflet.Skills – Part of the reason this is a firm favourite is because of all the different skills it helps Monkey with. It encourages a lot of discussion because of all of the activities and so is widening his vocabulary all the time, only he doesn’t realise it! It also helps his imagination, observational, and social skills just like many games do. The fact it includes a dice it also means that it helps his counting and number skills. This week we’ve been playing a new board game from Orchard Toys – What a Performance! It’s kind of like charades, but with a lot more going on. We properly laughed when we played this game and it would be a great game for small-ish groups of people or families. Contents – 1 jigged board game, 1 card holder, 100 activity cards, 1 star, I spinner, 4 character stands and playing pieces, 1 dice, 1 magic decoder, 1 sand timer, and instruction leaflet I like the fact that the cards have forfeit on them and you have to use the decoder to see it. Monkey was loved this element a lot of fun. Some of the forfeits were hilarious too which helped. This challenging 150-piece geography puzzle is suitable for ages 5 to 10. It's a brilliant way to help children learn about world geography. So often, children are familiar with the names of countries, but have little idea where they are in relation to others - or of the distances involved. Made to the high spec we have come to associate with Orchard Toys, this colourful map, which includes lots of small pictures, is on strong durable card and the pieces fit together well. It clearly displays the continents, which are colour-coded, and countries as well as showing local inhabitants, creatures and landmarks. There's a lovely giant poster included too, which is a real asset and perfect for displaying in a child's bedroom; it includes a keychart showing the icons that appear on the map. Both the map and the poster offer almost endless possibilities for discussion and extending learning. Where do your friends come from? Which countries did the animals we saw at the zoo come from? Why is it dark in Australia when it's daytime here? What language do they speak in this country? Jigsaws offer many more educational benefits too, including developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, as well as observation and confidence; a big jigsaw like this is great to share too. It's a jigsaw that will be used for many years, with parental help initially and then children will enjoy the satisfaction of doing it on their own and learning about the world at the same time. Why not make sure there's an atlas on hand too? Buy from Orchard Toys.
