About this deal

She says she knew she wanted to be a writer when she was 11 or 12 years old. It was at this age that she read fantasy for the first time. In the meantime, no one has noticed in the two months since Aelin's capture that Lysandra is pretending to be her, though the troops are troubled that Aelin—Lysandra—has not displayed her fire magic. Her relationship with Aedion has grown strained, with him refusing to talk to her unless necessary to keep up appearances. He remains upset that she kept things from him. reddorakeen on Beyond The Exorcist: Five Movies That Explore Possession From Non-Christian Perspectives 5 hours ago

Manon is an extremely beautiful witch with alabaster skin, long, moon-white hair, and eyes the color of burnt gold. She has the distinct traits for the Ironteeth—a set of retractable iron fangs and nails. After meeting her, both Dorian and Aelin say she is the most beautiful woman they have ever seen. However, this is later proved to be just a threshold, as Aelin found out another 'bottom' when she delved into her power for a day - to prepare to face Maeve in Doranelle. When Aelin passes through worlds, she sees two Fae—a winged male and a very pregnant female. The male lifts his hand and sends a gust of magic to slow her down. This is Rhysand and Feyre from A Court of Thorns and Roses. In the same scene, she passes a world with a city built along the curve of a river with incredibly tall buildings. This is Lunathion, also known as Crescent City, from the series by the same name. Some bonds will deepen and others be severed forever, but as the threads of fate weave together at last, all must fight if they are to find salvation – and a better world. However, Rowan knew Maeve would want a collar and had Elide travel to a tavern to spread fake rumours of a captured Valg Prince. There she finds Fae soldiers and asks after Cairn; nothing is forthcoming until a Fae female named Essar follows her and mentions that Maeve has left and where Cairn is stationed. She deduces that Elide is with Rowan and Lorcan, and tells her she is helping because she met Aelin before. The nuance of Rowan’s bait for Maeve—the whisper of Valg collars—being both what draws Maeve out and what nearly sends Aelin to her death. It’s so scary, and that makes it feel true. Ironteeth Physiology: As an Ironteeth witch Manon possesses sharp, retractable iron teeth and claws.

Sam and Aelin start living together in Aelin's apartment after freeing themselves from Arobynn. They plan on leaving to the southern continent, but before leaving, they are stopped by Arobynn Hamel, who needs the complete fees for leaving the guild permanently. Aelin gives away her money, and they plan to leave to the Southern continent when they go through a shortage of money. They decide to find one last client so that they can have enough money to travel. A client offers them a huge sum of money for killing Ioan Jayne, the crimelord of Rifthold, and his second Farran. During this process, Sam is killed as they are betrayed by Arobynn, and Aelin is sent to Endovier's salt mines. I would highly recommend the tandem read of Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn when you get to that point. While there is very little overlap in the two stories, some readers mentioned that one part of Tower of Dawn can be considered spoilery for Empire of Storms. WARNING: this review contains spoilers for the previous books in the series, and slight spoilers for Kingdom of Ash itself (because there are some issues that bothered me and I just have to talk about them). I’ll try to keep it vague and won’t mention names though. It became the most popular story on FictionPress.com and readers were the ones who encouraged her to seek out publication. Dorian realizes that the witch mirror is a memory mirror and that Manon and Aelin must go together to use it. Once inside the witch mirror, Manon and Aelin discover that it holds memories. They learn the truth about what happened last time Erawan came to power and that Aelin will have to sacrifice herself to stop him. Manon offers comfort the only way she knows how by moving close to her in a show of solidarity. Alone in the room with Sam, Aelin turns on him, believing that he had prior knowledge of the letter's contents, but he denies her accusations. Aelin rants, baffled as to why Arobynn would deceive them and dispatch them to reprove Rolfe for a crime he was not involved in. Sam says that Arobynn has his reasons, but Aelin presses on, expressing disgust at the idea of trading slaves. She asserts that the guild does not need the money, but she wonders if Arobynn is not as wealthy as she believes and has been spending money that he does not have, or if he simply wishes to become more affluent. Sam asks if she is going to bathe or if he can go first, and Aelin storms off to take a bath. Aelin is very passionate about many things, and especially so with the people she loves. When she cares for someone, she cares for them deeply and has experienced enough loss in her life to never want to feel it again. Aelin's passionate nature also often extends to her interests, including books, sweets, and music. Aelin can often be called rude or even evil, but she obviously loves her homeland and friends very much. No spoilers in the beginning of this rapid review of Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. (I’ll put a few spoilers under the **SPOILERS** mark below.) And let’s just get this out of the way right now: I don’t think I can call this review a rapid one. 😉 This series and this book are too long to keep my review short. I promise I’ll do better with brevity in my next review!

Aelin, Dorian, and Chaol are the only three characters to get a point of view in the first book and a main point of view in six books, while other characters' points of view were all added in the following books. And when it comes time to destroy Maeve and Erawan, Aelin doesn’t do it alone. Dorian, Lysandra, Elide, and Yrene combine forces to defeat Erawan. Before the final blow, Dorian learns his father’s name: It’s his own. When Yrene crushes Erawan, she shows him her mother: a woman Erawan never knew, whose hope for her daughter led them to this moment. Empire of Storms leaves off at a bit of a cliffhanger (spoiler, sorry) and many people might be tempted to skip Tower of Dawn altogether. To let you go straight from Empire of Storms to Kingdom of Ashes, try reading Tower of Dawn first. When the witches all start flying north it gave me all the same feelings as the lighting of the beacons in the Lord of the Rings—”Gondor calls for aid!”—and all the goosebumps, too. With Aelin captured, Aedion and Lysandra remain the last line of defense to protect Terrasen from utter destruction. Yet they soon realize that the many allies they’ve gathered to battle Erawan’s hordes might not be enough to save them. Scattered across the continent and racing against time, Chaol, Manon, and Dorian are forced to forge their own paths to meet their fates. Hanging in the balance is any hope of salvation―and a better world. Speaking of the ending, there was such a massive deus ex machina. It came out of nowhere and made me wonder if I had missed some part of the world building or foreshadowing. It felt like Maas just came up with some big and epic solution on the spot. Please don’t do that. Give us some world building in which the seeds are sown for this solution. And then make us forget about it, until it pops up again and we go “aaaaah, right!”. Orynth readies for battle as the Ironteeth aerial force approaches, 1,000 strong. Fortunately Manon arrives at the same time with the Thirteen and 5,000 Crochan witches. Aedion is injured in the ensuing battle. Dorian reaches Aelin's group with all the Wyrdkeys.
