About this deal

He will take you on a personal journey to discuss the mind of a murderer, human fascination with killers and the cold-blooded cases which haunt him the most from around the world Mark Williams-Thomas just about gets things right. That he takes on investigations after the police have failed tells us quite a lot already (we're not dealing with a shrinking violet here), but he's not overly egotistical either. Mark is a regular on television with his crime series on ITV and Netflix as well as a morning magazine crime strand and a best-selling author with Hunting Killers.

Death has a unique smell. I've been in the presence of people who have killed; I've been in rooms where people have been killed. I've seen the unspeakable things human beings are capable of. None of that puts me off my aim; I want to see those people caught, convicted and sent to jail. A problem I have with many True Crime books - and especially those written by criminal investigators, forensic scientists, and the like - is that there's a tendency for the author to come across as superior to the rest of us. Ironically, the more they proclaim to be ordinary, normal people doing an extraordinary job, the more superior sounding they often become. There's something about a serial killer that deeply fascinates and terrorizes all of us... except maybe serial killers. Watching a truly deranged person commit acts that would otherwise be unthinkable is just one of those things people want to see, and Hollywood has answered the call in both film and television. On the small screen, TV shows about serial killers have found a way to depict these monsters as either demons who must be stopped or even as anti-heroes the viewer can't help but cheer on in their endeavors - or become fascinated by, like with Joe Goldberg in You. Whatever your preference in watching serial killers, there are plenty of amazing series to watch on television. In this gripping and unflinching book, Mark reveals how he has pieces together these complex cases. Through tireless research and perseverance, Mark takes us on a journey of discovery, gathering and pursuing new evidence, earning the trust of silent witnesses and sharing the personal toll this extraordinary job takes on him. I found this an interesting read as Mark narrated his work. I found it fascinating how he explained the processes he uses. He shares examples of how he has been able to use these processes to solve cases he has worked on. And, just because someone has an incredible story to tell doesn't mean they're a great storyteller. He will talk about the offending of serial killers and where it all started and explore deeply into the mind of some of the most notorious serial killers he has investigated.

Mark is going to share his vast experience of investigating some of the most notorious cases and killers – in what promises to be a truly eye-opening and entertaining talk. This talk will leave you fascinated and enthralled as Mark gives you a unique insight into the lives of killers.Shows like Showtime's Dexter offered a deep and personal look into the mind of the titular character. Dexter was presented as an anti-hero who hunted down others like him while shows like The Following feature a look into both the minds of the killer(s) and the people hunting them down. The list goes on from here, featuring some great and thrilling series—and that's excluding the bounty of serial killer movies out there. If you’re interested in true crime I’d recommend this book. Being a big fan of true crime and crime shows/books I thought most of the processes Mark would talk about I’d have heard about from these but the covers processes I had not previously heard about and I found this very interesting.
