She received tuition from her father, as well as sessions with Henry Marten, the Vice-Provost of Eton. She was also instructed in religion by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Queen is approaching her 90th birthday. She hosts a 'Dine and Sleep' party at Windsor Palace as a favour to Prince Charles. He hopes to obtain funds from some Russians for one of his pet projects. Included in the party are some leading British celebrities and thinkers, Russian financiers, and Russian musicians and dancers. The young, talented Russian piano player in his 20s is handsome and flirtatious. He dances with and charms the ladies, even the Queen. The Queen threw him a look. “They forget. I’ve lived through a world war, that Ferguson girl, and you in the navy.” Major Shand and the Hon Rosalind Cubitt, the daughter of 3rd Baron Ashcombe, married on 2nd January 1946 at St Paul’s, Knightsbridge.

Goodreads The Windsor Knot by S.J. Bennett | Goodreads

Her Majesty received almost 40,000 birthday messages from members of the public during her 80th birthday year. Diamond Wedding anniversary I feel like the idea behind it is good, but it didn’t deliver in the way I wanted it too. The writing was good, and the author has done amazing research on the monarchy. For instance, the circumstances of the murder was quite intriguing. However, the mystery aspect was way too cozy for me, and didn’t excite me, therefore my rating. The Queen celebrated her 90th birthday on 21 April 2016 and her official birthday on 11 June 2016, the second day of three days of national celebrations.

The The Windsor Knot: The Queen investigates a murder in this

He is someone who doesn't take easily to compliments. He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years, and I, and his whole family, and this and many other countries, owe him a debt greater than he would ever claim or we shall ever know.’ The climax of the national celebrations came in early June. On the evening of Monday 6 June, The Queen lit a bonfire beacon at Windsor which started a chain of beacons across the country. On Tuesday 7 June, vast crowds saw The Queen drive in the Gold State Coach to St Paul's Cathedral for a Service of Thanksgiving attended by heads of state from around the world and former prime ministers of the UK.

Her Majesty The Queen | The Royal Family

Overall, The Windsor Knot is a satisfying start to what I think will be a great cozy mystery series. All the Queen’s Men is the second book, and I can’t wait to see what puzzle the Queen will solve next. The Queen turned 80 on 21 April 2006 and celebrated her official birthday on 17 June 2006. A number of events took place to celebrate the birthday, both around Her Majesty's actual birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on 17 June.

Services of Thanksgiving were held at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and at St Paul's Cathedral, and the latter was followed by a lunch at Mansion House in London. I like learning about the British Royal Family, and although this story is fictional, the premise lured me in over a year ago; Queen Elizabeth's Private Secretary, Sir Simon Holcroft, an old-school gentleman, tries to shield the Queen from the worst of the news.

In 1952, King George VI's health was poor, and illness forced him to abandon a proposed Commonwealth tour. Princess Elizabeth, accompanied by Prince Philip, took his place. On Wednesday 6 February 1952, she received the news of her father's death and her own Accession to the throne while staying in a remote part of Kenya. In an instant, she had ceased to be Princess Elizabeth and became Queen Elizabeth II. On 6 February 1952, King George VI died following a prolonged illness. Princess Elizabeth immediately acceded to the throne, becoming Queen Elizabeth II and taking on all of the responsibilities which came with her new title. Later in the year, the date was set for the Coronation at Westminster Abbey and preparations began for the spectacular ceremony. The Queen virtually doesn’t do anything to solve the crime. She plays a passive role in the solving of this crime while the main investigation is done by the police and her secretary. This makes me kind of furious because this book is marketed as “The Queen investigates and solves a crime” and there wasn’t much of this in the book. I get it that the Queen is more of a secretive sleuth and doesn’t take credits but even so, there was no part where she actively took part in the investigation. She appears much more of a bystander.
