Did you agree with Peter and everyone else in her life who felt she’d been so focused on finding Emma that she’s forgotten about everyone else? The author has had an interesting journey to becoming an author and has had many different experiences in her life. She was a pastor and now is an author, reflecting that her personal journey has often been about self-discovery. Her view of who she was once she had the realization that she could write changed. I am fine with her captor being released after serving his time. That did not bother me. However, trying to get us to believe that losing his daughter to foster care bc of XYZ caused him to kidnap and destroy lives...and get out of jail with a victim that treats him better than the father of her child was not acceptable. She was so comfortable with him yet thinks he could have kidnapped Emma?

I need to sue my instincts ‘cause I am really ashamed that I pegged this book really wrong! When I was done with the book, all I could keep thinking wasFinn's wingman is Slinger, whom I just LOVED. There was a quiet intensity to Jessica Morris' interpretation of Alyssa and an understated set of emotional choices for the character. It was also remarkable that there was a degree of empathy evoked in the character of the kidnapper Miles Simon. By the end of this ordeal, somebody needed to give Miles a great, big hug! Emma was seven years old in 1907 when she was uprooted from her grandparents’ home in Michipicoten by an Indian agent — along with her older sister, Fannie Nolan — and placed in St. Joseph’s Indian Residential School in Fort William, Ont. Three years later, she ended up in a Port Arthur hospital.Her first call was to the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, but she came up empty-handed. She then connected with a cousin from Nova Scotia who had been conducting her own genealogical research. After Emma’s disappearance, Megan started up the Walk Home Alone program. What do you think was the underlying reason for Megan starting up this program. Finding Emma is the first novel in the Finding Emma series written by Canadian author Steena Holmes. This is the first story in the series that introduces readers to the main character of Megan for the first time. The beginning starts out with a girl having an internal battle with helping a stray cat. She seems terrified to open her screen door and let a stray cat in her home, or more essentially, into her life. The girl is in a self-inflicted exile from her co-workers, hometown, even her family. It is very hard to understand where this story takes a turn to reality, where it stops just being an adorable relationship you coo over to the one where it becomes a part of you. It isn’t just the writing that’s the best part of this book (though the writing is flawless), it is the fact that the characters, the plot, every single part of this book gets under your skin before you even realise it had happened, and now there is a itch, the kind that makes you think about reality, when all you want to do is bury your head in sand.Other standout characters include Mia Goth, who plays friend/protegee Harriet Smith as even more of a hapless stooge than usual; and the incomparable Bill Nighy as Emma's father Mr. Woodhouse. Is he really just a hypochondriac always fussing over cold drafts and fireplaces? It becomes clear that he knows and sees a good deal more than his loving but blithely unobservant daughter gives him credit for. And Nighy can steal scenes without saying a word, just by body posture and a raised eyebrow. He's a cinematic treasure. Johnny Flynn as Mr. Knightley is fine but a bit forgettable in the end. This book is part heart journey and part “Dear Lord, what just happened?” I fell completely in love with Emma— she was beautiful inside and out. She really grabbed my attention and was extremely relatable. I truly felt like I was her and living exactly what she was experiencing as I was reading the book. She and David were so very interesting and intricate as characters. I was in turns in love with and angry at David. I suppose that means that I really followed exactly what Emma was feeling! These two characters kept me up at night in a way I haven’t had a book enthrall me in a very long time. It starts off with someone with obvious anger issues. Did this make me like the character more or less? Honestly, I wasn't sure - she was very flawed and I wasn't sure if I was going to like her or not. Let's be honest - she made a lot of stupid decisions that cost her more than she could afford.
