I've been working from home since 2018, and even though I love my desk (and my computer monitor), sometimes it's too hard to leave my bed in the morning or make it off the couch in the afternoon. The Nnewvante, which is also in our Home Office Gear guide, is a great stand for those lazier days. You can't adjust the stand's height, but you can raise the base to an angle suitable to whatever you're doing—sketching, watching a movie on a tablet, eating breakfast, or typing on a laptop—and the built-in stopper keeps things from sliding off into your lap. Aside from the price, the biggest difference between the two stands is the design and tightness of the hinges. You cannot manually tighten the hinges on the Nulaxy Dual Rise stand, while on the Frieet, they can be manually adjusted with an included tool. Having said that, the hinges on the Nulaxy are extremely tight out of the box and seem to stay that way (based on our experience and others’). The hinges on the Frieet on the other hand can – and require – periodic tune up to maintain the desired tension. Just like the Nulaxy Dual Rise, the Frieet has a dual rise construction which means that the height, angle, and distance from the user can be adjusted. They also have the same aluminum construction that makes both models lightweight and durable. Beyond that, decide whether you want one permanently set on your desk or if your stand needs to be portable. If you want to toss it in a laptop case, the stand should fold up or collapse for convenience when traveling. Being lightweight is another factor, or it’ll get left behind.
