the speeches compiled expertly narrate the history, values, fight, voice, and identity of ukrainians and their nation. they are the most inspiring individuals i have ever come to know. every single ukrainian is going through the worst moments of their lives and, yet, i never heard a single person complain about their situation the entire time i was there.

A Message from Ukraine: President Zelensky publishes ‘battle

The substantive question raised by these speeches is, of course, whether Zelenskiy is right. He claims that “a bloody reconstruction of nazism has taken place in Ukraine”. At the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC, he tells the tales of four brothers, three of whom were shot by the Germans. The last man standing was his grandfather. It’s powerful, persuasive and irresistible – but is Putin really as bad as Hitler? It’s a reminder, if we needed it, that rhetoric always needs watching. Nonetheless, there is an authentic sense that many Russian servicemen regret ever having come to Ukraine, a journey that has ended for some in death or disillusionment. One interrogator asks a prisoner: “So, what do you think, are you soldiers of the strong Russian army or cannon fodder?”But damn - I wish Ukraine wasn’t having to bear the burden of proving that. The longer this war goes on, the less safe any of “us” should feel. I loved the book. I hope and pray that things go well for Zelensky and his beautiful country and I hope they come out of this with their freedom intact. PS - for those interested, here are links to the text and video of one of my favourite speeches that zelensky has given. They shout expletives in front of armed people. I’ve seen the Russian faces. They are very uncomfortable because it’s not what they expected. They were told Ukrainians were imprisoned by mythic Nazis,” he added. the courage of the ukrainain people has inspired the whole world. it has renewed humanitys hope... and they have shown that it is not force that wins, but truth. not money, but values. not oil, but people.’

These are the quotable soundbites, of course, from speeches intended to be heard in their entirety. How many end up being truly memorable, only history will decide. If you want to understand who we are, where we are from, what we want and where we are going, you need to learn more about who we are. This book will help you do just that.' President Volodymyr Zelensky I’ve probably read as much about this conflict and Russian and Ukrainian history as any regular person in the States and felt like nothing in this work was repetitive. It’s essential reading. i had the humbling opportunity to volunteer in ukraine for three months last summer, doing humanitarian aide and helping out the war effort. it was one of the most difficult, yet rewarding, experiences of my entire life. and this little book does a great job at describing so much of what i love about the ukrainian people. Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation works to facilitate bureaucratic processes through technology, which supports its entrepreneurs in their international business dealings. Ukraine is the first country in the world to legalize digital passports , making business travel easier. Ukraine also legalized the use of cryptocurrencies , providing a framework of law for virtual asset transactions in its tax code. These types of innovations have positioned Ukraine as a leader in both technology and business. Stand with UkraineWhat I would add to Ostrovsky’s comment about the global impact of Ukraine’s defiance and Zelensky’s democratic appeal to anyone with liberal values is that it’s potential more profound than we recognize now. Ostrovsky writes that Zelensky captivates the rest of the world with a “moral clarify and force” that leaves no listener indifferent. I agree. I also find it to be an understatement. Zelensky and Ukraine have become a moral cause for democracy and empathy as anyone can see. It also seems to me that this has become an inflection point where global liberal values have found a role model that has galvanized unity against totalitarianism. World leaders take note: when crafting a truly inspiring speech, nothing focuses the mind like a Russian missile with your name on it. This wisdom comes courtesy of a new book of speeches by Volodymyr Zelensky, the Churchill-in-a-teeshirt whose finest hour seems never-ending.

It hurts my heart when atrocities like this happen in Asia, the Middle East, or in Africa. They happen and we barely get to hear about it, because the West has decided that people dying (or worse) in those places is not “our” problem. According to the book's prologue, by Economist Russia editor Arkady Ostrovsky, those brief words were a turning point in the war. "There were rumours – spread by Russian officials – that Zelensky had left the country and that his government had collapsed," Ostrosvsky writes. "This half-minute video proved otherwise." To me, this is the absolute bare minimum I can stomach. To me, “we” should include the entire world. Though, I do understand that sound somewhat naive, I do understand why that would become logistically near impossible… at this time.

He says because we can’t. Because Russia has Nuclear weapons, we can’t go to war with them. What are they supposed to do if nukes come into the picture, he asks? I have no argument against this. He is right, we can’t go to war Russia. The war must remain…. Cold.

A Message from Ukraine by Volodymyr Zelensky | Goodreads

Ukraine’s president gathers 16 recent speeches, defiant and stirring, to rally the world to his embattled nation’s cause. Since around 2010, Ukraine has been a hotbed of startups in numerous industries , such as app development, medicine, education, and ecommerce. Among the many Ukrainian startup success stories are Grammarly, GitLab, and Preply, used by millions worldwide. The months of the year are especially different between Ukrainian and Russian, since the Russian calendar adopted month names based on Latin, rather than Slavic roots. Startup ecosystem Alex Kovzhun, a one-time adviser to Ukraine’s former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko, said Russian soldiers could be divided into two sorts: “There are the young conscripts who are scared shitless. And there are career guys who have fought in Syria and the Donbas.”Volodymyr Zelenskyy talks about Ukraine through his speeches in such a elegant, poignant way. Every chapter talked about Ukraine throughout history not just from 2019-2022. You get the richness of Ukraine’s history told through the eyes of the president. I smiled and cried my way through this book. This is what it means to be Ukrainian! Russia will not win because try as they might they cannot erase us! They couldn’t eighty nine years ago with Holodomor (terror-famine) and they can’t now even though they have been trying for the past eight years since the revolution in 2014. This is such an inspiring and uplifting book which helps to boost morale, hope throughout this cruel invasion. We have one thing that Russia never will have. Our dignity, our freedom. We are free in an independent Ukraine and it will stay that way forever.
