About this deal

An LED strip description often includes a 4-digit number such as 5050 or 2835. The number usually describes the size of the chip. A major advantage of using a 12v strip is its reliability. This voltage option is much more cost-effective, and uses 20% less energy to emit the same light as an incandescent bulb. However, compared to 5v strips, this option requires more careful planning of wiring and transformer sizing during installation. Conversely, if you try to use a 12V power supply on a 24V strip, the underpowered LEDs will not light up at all. Waterproof or not? However, if you’re doing a large installation, you probably don’t want wires hanging around everywhere. In that case, a clean install usually requires multiple LED driver power supplies and running wires through walls.

The efficiency of your power supply can make a big difference in total power usage. Typical efficiencies for power supplies run between 70% and 90%. Below are the material lists with demo code based on what strip you want to work with. Feel free to hook up two or all three strips! Controler should be Giderwel Zigbee, dimmable, RGBW compatible. Issue is the current. based on specs 6A/channel, 15A max. If we used injector do we ignore the amp capacity of the controler or do I need to install many of them? If so, they won’t act as one anymore?A typical LED has a spectral power distribution graph that looks something like the image on the left. Notice there are significant deficiencies around the cyan and red areas. This will cause objects that include those colors to look “off” when viewed under these lights.

Another way of calculating current draw is using the power consumption per LED. The power consumption can also be used to find current draw if the power consumption, measured in watts per LED is known instead. The datasheet tells us .72 watts for 3 LEDs. First divide .72/3 = .24 watts per led You should also use a power supply which matches the voltage of the strip. For example, you should never connect a 12v LED strip to a 24v DC power supply as it will burn out the bulbs. Voltage drop Another way to find out battery life with a dynamic project, hook up a battery at full strength and see how long it takes to drain. The strip is made of flexible PCB material, and comes with a weatherproof sheathing. You can cut this stuff pretty easily with wire cutters, there are cut-lines every 0.65"/1.7cm (1 LED each). Solder to the 0.1" copper pads and you're good to go. Of course, you can also connect strips together to make them longer, just watch how much current you need! We have a 5V/2A supply that should be able to drive 1 meter (depending on use) and a 5V/10A supply that can drive up to 4 meters (depending on use) You must use a 5V DC power supply to power these strips, do not use higher than 6V or you can destroy the entire strip Every wire has a certain amount of resistance to electricity being pushed through it. The longer the wire gets, the bigger the resistance (and the voltage drop) gets. Eventually it gets large enough to impact the LED brightness. Below is an example of how it might happen on a 12V strip. To avoid dissatisfaction with your LED strip, you should educate yourself on the key elements affecting the installation, efficiency and performance of different voltage options. Power supply As mentioned above, with 24v lights you should use a matching power supply. If you use a 12v power supply for 24v lights, for example, the lights will not work.

The best way I’ve found for most of my installations is just to create a gentle bend around the corner. A single power supply can exceed the power limit if it splits the power into multiple outputs as long as each output is within the power limits. As an example let's look at the white strip's datasheet. We can see the operating voltage is 12V, which should also be screen printed on the strip itself at the cut line of each segment. What we are looking for is the current draw measured in milliamps (mA). It tells us that each segment made up of 3 LEDs draws 60 mA. To make the calculations easier, the current draw can be divided by 3 totaling 20mA per LED. If one meter is being used with 60 LEDs per meter we have this information:I prefer the Zigbee protocol for my lights because it works with the Philips Hue hub. The Hue hub is very reliable and has super fast reaction times. Plus, I already have a bunch of Philips Hue lights so my Hue mesh network is strong.
