About this deal

After all these to and fo, I cannot believe I completely forgot this: YES, YOU CAN IN FACT BRUSH PAINT PS PAINTS! If you have the color you want in PS of course, and frankly, it will be better as they are the right paint for doing the job and paint from spray are well thinned down ready to go. I've brushed the Tamiya clear red, needs thinning slightly more to slow it drying really. Works for small areas fine so a Maine is fine but a rhino isn't as good. X-27 Clear Red Gloss Tamiya x27 - Super-Hobby

The Tamiya Mini X-27 Clear Red Acrylic Paints come in 10ml bottles and are water-soluble and non-toxic. They are suitable to paint plastic model kits and come in three finishes, gloss, flat and translucent. The Tamiya Acrylic Paint range can be brushed straight from the tub, or thinned to be used in an airbrush. https://www.stardustcolors.co.uk/vallejo-acrylic-serie/1206-candy-transparent-colours-acrylic-paints-for-airbrush.html I said I wanted to do this on the traditionally gold bits of the GK armor - the wording, found on the shoulder pads, and in 4 or so places on the body of the armor, I don't think an airbrush will save time there!!! Gosh, think of how many hours it would take to tape off 90% of the model that I wanted to stay silver. I think being a bit brighter will probably be a good thing, I really like the bright candy red look that FW have achieved. The paint can be also thinned for airbrushing using Tamiya Lacquer Thinner. Using Tamiya Lacquer Thinner will yield faster drying results and a harder finish.I've been messing around trying to do Heresy Thousand Sons for a little while now, I have been able to get reasonable but inconsistent results airbrushing Tamiya Clear Red over silver, but I am finding it annoying to use. Tamiya Clear Red vs Forgeworld Angron Red - + GENERAL PCA QUESTIONS + - The Bolter and Chainsword Jump to content I wouldn't use them straight out of the pot. I made a 50/50 mix in a separate 40ml dropper pot, works great. For better paint brushing results use Tamiya Paint Retarder (87114) for a smoother brushstroke free finish.

question about Tamiya clear paints - Large Scale Planes question about Tamiya clear paints - Large Scale Planes

Thanks Nikola, I've tried so many different acrylic clears, and all have seemed to take an age to dry. I'll give you suggestion a go Hi just tagged onto this old thread but have restarted airbrushing and have been experimenting the last week or so with Xtracrylix paints, looking for some advice on Tamiya gloss varnish. I think general tamiya paints are thinned 1:1 with paint using tamiya thinners and sprayed at 15psi, that’s worked for me. A side note, I tried the same thing with Mr Color lacquer, using their thinners not water of course, results wasn't too good. Hi MentalGuru, for the longest time, I found Tamiya clear gloss and gloss acrylics difficult to work with. Recently I've found that a 1.5:1 Tamiya thinner to paint ratio works really well. As with everything, a light coat followed by successive wet coats seems to yield fantastic results that look even better once it's levelled and cured for at least 48hrs... I used a straw taped to the nozzle, and just sprayed into a glass vile. Worked relatively well, so I could do that again for translucents, but not sure. For solid/opaque it seemed ok.Don't get me wrong, I like Tamiya acrylics, I nearly have their entire range and use them all the time for hand painting to great results. Have been using this for a while and I have also tried to add some Johnsons Klear to it. This mix dries really hard and highly glossy in a matter of a couple of hours. Hope this helps I am not sure yet, but here is what I am thinking. I'm doing GK / henchman and wanted an option other than straight gold for all of the wordy bits on the Grey Knight's armor. But I still want it to be metallic-y. I know people have applied multiple layers of ink to make colored metallics, but that is super time consuming and would be frustrating to do on all the little bits each model has. So I figured if I wanted a reddish metallic, I could paint this clear red over the gold. And maybe use a wash on it after that.
