LETSHUOER S12 Review — Headfonics

I apologize, I haven’t tried the Seekreal Dawn, but I have tried the DUNU Talos, which has an added BA (it can be switched between pure planar mode and BA+planar mode). The LetShuoer S12 Pro shares the same shape with the original S12, which is a pretty compact monitor with a minimalistic industrial design. The monitor is made from a Five-Axis CNC machines Aluminum Alloy, which is a pretty lightweight & durable material. The monitor has a pretty smooth surface with a Blue (Space Blue) finish, which is a special color selection for the 6TH-Anniversary Deluxe Edition. The S12 Pros excel in its treble extension to my ears. The treble renders music with such openness but also very good resolution. What you get is shimmering, sparkle of minutia in your music, it just sounds great. As with the bass the treble stands out for the definition, naturalness, and decay of the notes.Which Planer Magnetic earphones deliver for you? Planar drivers are extremely capable drivers and there is currently an avalanche of Planar earphones on the market. I had the pleasure of listening to the S12, the original Letshouer planar earphones, lent to me by a kind friend. Good fun! Do the S12 Pros deliver? The S12’s better mid-bass composure may trigger a chain effect in that the midrange is not masked and therefore clearer. Its transition from bass to lower midrange is much smoother compared the abrupt change in the Timeless…which results in a much more cohesive, balanced sound…which is the dealmaker/breaker for me.

While the shells of the S12 Pro look like the spitting image of the original S12, they come in an aerospace blue hue, which is a far cry from their predecessor’s dull gray color. This swappable concept enables the S12 Pro to be paired with a myriad of balanced and single-ended sources. Also, this theoretically should decrease wear-and-tear for the 2-pin connector on the shells, as one does not need to keep unplugging and plugging the cable. A 2-pin connector is always welcome in my book, as I’ve had bad experiences with failed MMCX connectors in the past, especially with frequent cable changes. The upper midrange of the LetShuoer S12 Pro is pretty highlighted and dynamic, while it shows a slightly smoother overall response in this are compared to the original S12.Female voices and instruments such like side flutes, cellos or pianos do sound pretty lively, slightly saturated and detailed. The extension and authority of this area is on an excellent level and meets my expectations from an IEM at this price range. Both the LetShuoer S12 and the TiN HiFi P2 do offer an efficient performance in terms of separation and placement of instruments and vocals. The S12 has the upper hand for the soundstage wideness, while both IEM’s are pretty similar when it comes to the depth of the stage. Yes, since you brexited UK is different shipment via air especially to avoid doubling on duty. But it must have been like that before on second thought, since you were always outside of Schengen. Founded in 2016 under the leadership of Danny To and Jeff Wong, Letshuoer is o ne of those IEM brands whose name I’ve heard before, but never really paid much attention to. Fortunately, the brand didn’t wait for me and managed to grow year after year, thanks to an ever evolving range of in-ear monitors.

S12 Pro Review - Major HiFi Letshuoer S12 Pro Review - Major HiFi

The S12 has a slightly warmer tonality compared to the P2, which sounds a bit brighter and thinner in direct comparison. The subbass region of the LetShuoer S12 offers slightly more depth and rumble, while both do offer a pretty equal sense of decay and control in this area. The midbass region of the S12 has more intensity and shows also a better level of body and impact, while the difference is not very high but audible. What I do not want is to be deprived of hearing the various instruments. Excessive mid bass, which drowns out the other parts of the frequency range, but I do want to hear sub-bass, which is occasional in music in any case. I want to hear the midrange, but not to wince when the saxophone blurts out, or a voice shout at me (no matter how good the voice is). I do not want highs which make me want to pull out the earphones from my ears, but I do want to hear the shimmering highs and sparkly notes. The sub-bass on the P1 MAX rolls a little earlier while the bass is leaner and drier sounding but with a touch of extra control and clarity compared to the S12 PRO which is fuller and weightier but more hollow and looser.LETSHUOER also dabbles in cables and sources, such as the M5 and DT02, respectively.
