About this deal

The capacity of the wide commercial coffee basket can hold 16-20g of ultra-fine grind for a standard double-shot espresso. This is amazing as a portable handheld espresso maker, not many of its rivals offer this capacity. What’s Included?

Picopresso Review - Ultimate Portable Espresso Machine? Wacaco Picopresso Review - Ultimate Portable Espresso Machine?

There’s an EVA hard protective case with a strong zipper and a soft interior. This is perfect if you’re taking your Picopresso outdoors, offering even more protection to an already durable machine. Also in the box is a branded dosing funnel for the basket. Next, there’s an upgraded tamper with a robust steel base. This is a significant improvement on the Nanopresso, whose tamper is the base of a plastic scoop. Lastly, there’s a tiny WDT tool to break up your grinds for a cleaner extraction. The shots from the Picopresso taste (I must say) surprisingly great. They’re remarkably smooth and rich with a good amount of texture. Now, when you unzip the case and remove the brewer, the Picopresso weighs 350g and is only 10.5cm tall, but has a good 7.5cm in diameter, and in true Wacaco fashion, all the additional accessories fit inside the Picopresso quite neatly. Under the water chamber lid sits your steel tamper and the dosing ring, and sitting inside the water chamber is a distribution tool and that cleaning brush. The water chamber itself will hold a maximum of 90ml of water. Arg.... has anyone been experiencing water leaking between the basket holder and the body of the picopresso? The Flair Neo is a beginner-friendly lever espresso machine in a similar price range as the Picopresso. It uses a pressurized basket that ensures that you’ll get decent espresso regardless of your grind size.Espresso tends to be darker, heavier, and richer than infusion-brewed coffee. As such, the beans are typically a darker roast, though I've noticed lighter roasts may be growing in popularity.

Wacaco Picopresso portable espresso machine review

Ever wondered what your favourite coffee would taste like if it was brewed by a professional barista? You won’t have to wonder anymore: now you can brew it yourself at home (or even on the go!) with “Picopresso”, the most compact and professional of the portable espresso machines produced by Wacaco. Its ergonomic design offers a comfortable brewing experience with easy-to-apply pressure, curved arms, and a conveniently positioned pressure gauge. But after 12 pumps, or when I see that coffee just coming out, I wait for 10 seconds and that allows the coffee to pre-infusion the basket. The new Picopresso is superior to the Nanopresso in most ways though. The basket is a standard, non-pressurized model that can hold up to 18 grams of ground coffee. It means that you can pull an excellent 50 ml double shot. The Wacaco Picopresso costs more than many other portable espresso machines, including the brand’s older models. However, that extra expense is worth it for the thoughtfully designed, capable machine that pulls authentic espresso. Portable is stretch here—the 9Barista is very well made, but it does weigh more than three pounds. For a small apartment with limited kitchen counter space, or for those RV trips you've been plotting, it's perfect.

The Picopresso doesn’t require batteries to brew your espresso. Instead, it features a piston, which can be pumped by hand to create 18 bars of pressure to force the hot water through the coffee grounds. It comes with a standard 2-inch / 5.2cm double basket, similar to those found on mains-powered espresso machines. It can hold 18g of coffee, and also features a 2.7fl oz / 80ml water tank, so you can brew a double espresso no matter where you are – as long as you have access to boiling water and a cup. With the Picopresso there are no shortcuts. Each home brewer must master the art of manual espresso making by dialing in the correct grind size, tamping, and perfecting pulling technique – their reward; an authentic cafe-quality espresso that will rival any expensive high-end machine. Product Specification: Now it's at around eight to twelve pumps that I've consistently seen espresso appear on the bottom edges of the filter basket. And if it were way more than this, it would suggest that my grind was too fine. If it brewed sooner than those eight to 12 pumps, then I would consider my grind to be too coarse. I’m impressed that the Wacaco Picopresso can produce such high-quality espresso even though it’s so tiny and innocent looking.

30 SECONDS TO CREMA

As we mentioned earlier, the Picopresso brew emblematic creamy shots with rich crema. For drink quality alone, this is remarkable given the price. On those terms, it represents incredible value for money. Wacaco Picopresso Vs Wacaco Nanopresso
