About this deal

How about a Gingerbread Man I-Spy activity that is perfect for visual scanning and discrimination? It’s a simple print and go for therapeutic fun!

The Gingerbread Man is a classic children's story about a runaway gingerbread man fleeing from the woman who baked him. The story is best known for the Gingerbread Man's catchphrase "Run, run, as fast you can! You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!" Meanwhile, the little boy, the old man, the old woman, the spotted dog, the hungry crow, the three mowers, the two piglets and the pony had reached the riverbank, and seen the fox gobbling the Gingerbread Man up. In the end, the Gingerbread Man escapes and the fox teaches the other pursuers how to exercise. The Ninjabread Man by Katrina Charman and Fabiano FiorinYou can, can you?" Growled the bear. "We’ll see about that!" He trotted as fast as his legs could carry him after the gingerbread man, who never stopped to look behind him. Before long the bear was left so far behind that he saw he might as well given up the hunt at the start, so he stretched himself out by the roadside to rest.

One more interesting choice is The Runaway Tortilla by Eric Kimmel. Set in south Texas, the main character is a freshly baked “light as a cloud” tortilla, rather than a gingerbread cookie. Maybe simple Gingerbread Theme Play Dough Mats are all you are looking for to have kiddos work on fine motor hand skills. Gingerbread Sensory Activities On went the gingerbread man, and by-and-by he came to a bear. The bear said, "Where are ye going, gingerbread man?"I created this image for you to pin if you want to save this to reference later. All you do is hover over the picture below and hit “Save” to save it to one of your boards 🙂 The story starts with a British undertone and with characters who look as if they're from old Britain. The illustrations are detailed, but sometimes unrealistic. The cow, pig, and fox were standing and had human characteristics and body language which was the weirdest part of the book. The story line, however, was very well written in that the language was fun to read and the rhyming made the story easy to tell if one had to read it out loud.

There are two more classic Gingerbread Man books that make a solid starting point for students. These are a little more complex than the ones I listed for preschoolers, but still easy enough for young kindergartners to follow. The Gingerbread Man by Louise Martin and Gail Yerrill Try Gingerbread Passing to work on core strength, coordination, motor planning, and social skills. It’s a great team work activity or it can be simplified to have one child work on passing a gingerbread man from one place to another. The Gingerbread Man 2: What Happened Later is a super cute sequel to the story we all know. It follows the fox who becomes a baker of gingerbread men 🙂 I love when books kids already know follow another character as the main character. On ran the gingerbread man, and by-and-by he came to two men digging a ditch. "Where ye going, gingerbread man?" said they.
