About this deal

With a good filtration system in place and after performing a thorough cleaning, your Fluval stratum should settle completely within 24 hours. As above, Fluval appears to claim it will only last for up to 2 years, then presumably need replacing. I have yet to see this, so I would say no, it doesn’t need replacing unless it has broken down to a dusty mess. Should You Gravel Vacuum Fluval Stratum?

When you first get your Fluval Stratum you will need to rinse it. It should be washed in cold running water. Be aware, Fluval Stratum is a delicate substance. If you blast it with fast running water, it will break up.Try to find the origin or material from the sand. Some types of sand like play sand and coral sand have a lot of calcium and are sharp. Some are putting gravel on top of Fluval Stratum if they want to do a vacuum since it will provide protection. Nonetheless, the chance of breaking Fluval Stratum is high regardless of the position of the gravel. Can You Put Sand On Top Of Fluval Stratum? One water change per day – You want to perform one 10% water change per day until you get the desired result. You will probably only need 1-2 water changes for the situation to improve. Changing too much of the water at once or performing too many water changes within a day can change the water’s chemistry and parameters. Remember – patience.
