About this deal

Subtitle and audio description information spoken on the electronic programme guide more info panel This year also marks the arrival of new screen sizes across the Panasonic range. A 77in “cinema size” version of the LZ2000 will be available in addition to 55in and 65in models, while the LZ1500 gets new 48in and 42in options to complement the 55in and 65in variants available last year.

Its flagship TV, the LZ2000 was unveiled at CES in January and is joined by the LZ1500, LZ1000, LZ980 – all of which are updates of 2021 models – along with the new LZ800, which is a UK exclusive. The only new LED LCD model currently confirmed for a UK release is the LX800. With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller, choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Soundbars enhance your TV’s sound quality and add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either. Moving to SDR requires another adjustment of the TV’s settings, but the picture quality is there to be had if you work at it. Watching something fairly neutral, such as 22 Jump Street on Blu-ray, we get that same zesty and inviting image as before. The Spring Break scene at the climax of the film is an appealing kaleidoscope of bright beachwear on golden sand and, once the white balance has been tweaked, the HX940 just about nails it. LZ1500: Like the LZ2000, the 55in and 65in models of the LZ1500 feature a Master OLED Pro panel and Dynamic Cinema Surround Pro, though they miss out on Panasonic’s Luminance Booster technology and don’t have quite as impressive an audio system. The 48in and 42in variants have basic OLED configuration panels, less impressive speaker setups and different stands but will of course cost rather less.

New for 2022, the “Game Control Board” functions similarly to Samsung’s Game Bar, presenting relevant real-time gaming information in one location. Frame data, HDR tone mapping settings, input lag and viewing modes will all be accessible at the touch of a button without the need to leave your game. With two speakers and a rated power of 24 W, the television delivers clear and immersive audio. It offers different sound modes, including Game, Movie, Music, News, and Standard, allowing users to customize their audio settings based on their preferences. Subtitles and audio description information displayed on electronic programme guide programme banner According to Panasonic, the flagship LZ2000 will be around 40% brighter than last year’s model as a result. Like last year, the LZ2000 and LZ1500 sport “Master OLED Pro” panels on screen sizes 55in and up. The LZ1000 and larger LZ980 models use a less advanced “Master OLED” panel, while the 42in and 48in LZ1500 and LZ980, along with all LZ800 models, make do with a basic OLED configuration. Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits) Delivery information: If you buy a soundbar or DVD/Blu-ray player along with this TV, please note that they'll be delivered separately. LX800: The only LCD TV announced for a UK release, the LX800 swaps out the My Home Screen OS for Android TV. The experience is geared towards smart operation, with Chromecast built-in and Google’s voice assistant accessible directly from the TV’s remote. The speaker units have been upgraded from last year’s model so should be able to take better advantage of the set’s support for Dolby Atmos. The 43in and 50in models miss out on Panasonic’s HDR Cinema Display panel found on the larger screen sizes.

The bigger problem is when it comes to the action sequences. This sound system barely delivers with the opening car chase of the film. There’s no weight or dynamism to get our blood pumping and that removes the feeling of jeopardy to the scene. HID (Human Interface Device Profile) compliant keyboards are available. A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) compliant audio devices are available. The Bluetooth® word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc. and any use of such marks by Panasonic Corporation is under license. If you want to connect your TV to a blu-ray player, games console, soundbar or soundbase then you'll need a HDMI cable. As promised, here is where we begin to demystify those baffling Panasonic TV model numbers. The code breakers of GCHQ are hardly needed here, as the system is actually quite simple if you follow the steps below. Let’s take the TX-55LZ2000B as our example.

This screen has four times the number of pixels than Full HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail. High Dynamic Range expands light, dark, and every colour in between for a picture that's closer to real life. This set supports multiple HDR formats including Dolby Vision. Energy consumption XYZ kWh per year, based on the power consumption of the television operating 4 hours per day for 365 days. The actual energy consumption will depend on how the television is used. After a while, all those bright sounds are quite hard to listen to. While clarity is king for TV sound, so viewers can easily follow dialogue, it doesn't take many minutes with this Panasonic to begin craving a decent dose of welly and dynamics. Ultimately, we want a TV that delivers both, but at least some of each is preferable. This TV leans too far in a single direction. Verdict Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)

Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white outputThe opening scenes of Baby Driver on 4K Blu-ray are a really exciting watch. This bright panel creates wonderful views of the gloriously sunny city streets as Baby waits in his vibrant red getaway car outside the bank. The stone of the buildings is clean and detailed, and this TV’s shading skills bring a realistic sense of depth and perspective to the picture. Shots such as this give an easy sense that you’ve got something good for your money. Also new for 2022 is support for the Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode, which serves the same purpose as Panasonic’s ambient light picture optimising technology but specifically for Netflix content. LZ980: Available in four screen sizes, the LZ980 uses Panasonic’s premium processor but makes do with the basic OLED panel configuration. It includes almost all of the other features found on the LZ1000, but gets a stand that doesn’t swivel. JZ980:The last of the 2021 OLEDs, the JZ980, has Panasonic’s standard 4K OLED panel with support for HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and DolbyVision IQ, the brand-new processor, two HDMI 2.1 ports with eARC, VRR, 4K at 120Hz and ALLM, and a 30W sound system.
