About this deal

I can't quite believe how selfish Sunset's mother was as she put what she wanted before her children's needs. She also complained the father couldn't look after the children when she clearly couldn't either. Both Sunset and Destiny's chapters only properly connected at the end of the book. Before this they could have been two completely different books.

Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. Destiny, dcéra chudobnej mamy, s ktorou sa starajú jedna o druhú a nevlastná sestra Sunset. Chudoba sa jej moc nepáči, a radšej by bola s trochu viac peniazmi.

Everything changes when the two families meet in the middle of the night: sparks fly between Kate and Danny and Destiny finds a soul mate in her new sister, Sunset. Through their instant connection and mutual passion for music, the two sisters see each other in a way no one else can, bringing out each other’s hidden talent to shine for all the world to see. Darling lives with her mum in a crummy area outside Manchester. She doesn't have a lot but she has enough. My dad is Danny Killman. I suppose there wouldn't be any point telling people even if it wasn't a secret, because who would believe me?' Friendship and teamwork are key themes. Families can be complicated but can also be a source of love and support. Fame and social media have their negative sides as well as positive. Believe in yourself and never be ashamed of how you feel. I loved the idea of this book, it really grabbed me and made me think and wonder, which i loved. I also loved how every chapter the main character changed and you could see what they were feeling and dealing with.

Jacqueline Wilson is a great writer and has produced many great stories, but 'Little Darlings' just wasn't that one of them. It felt like she was trying to mix her other books, 'clean break', 'illustrated mum' and 'secrets' together. Destiny is also an interesting character. At just 11 years old she feels more like the parent and has to plead with her mother, Kate, to seek help for her deteriorating condition. It feels as though we are meant to pity Kate for working so hard and trying to connect Destiny with her father - and whilst it was certainly sad to read about her neglecting her own health and falling into a depression, any likeability for her character was destroyed by how frustrating it was to read about her hysterical obsession with Danny and the way in which she neglects Destiny because of it. The scene where Sunset's father says she's rubbish at dancing was uncomfortable to read. It wasn't clear at all why he was behaving like that.Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing - Key details Genre Comedy Drama Broadcast 2022 Channel Sky Kids Episodes 4 (1 series) Creator Jacqueline Wilson Stars Lemar Obika, Jamelia, Janae Vito, Diaana Babnicova, Kayla-Mai Alvares, Cameron Douglas, Rufus Jones and Nathan Bryon Writers Nathan Bryon and Jonny Wright Company I love the narrative surrounding the friendship formed by Sunset and Destiny. Sunset's character was far more developed than Destiny. I feel for Destiny's mum as well who was never developed further than as a character obsessed with Danny, and she never gained her own agency. It would have been great to see a storyline where Destiny and her mother find happiness with themselves, after seeing Danny's reality at the premiere. Families can talk about what Little Darlings: The Movie says about fame. Can you think of positives and negatives about being famous? Everyone adores Dad, with his glamorous ponytail and his wonderful storytelling gifts. Even Em, though he is not her real dad. His Christmas presents, which include a real (well, probably) emerald ring for Em, are the best ever too.

As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children's Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children's Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame. When the two girls meet in unlikely circumstances, they find in each other something they've been missing all their lives.Destiny's mother was so irresponsible and didn't seem to think about her daughter when she made decisions, especially when she got into a random car late at night. jacqueline wilson books just hit different. why are they so disturbing and traumatic? even this one, which was low key not that bad, had questionable parents. Distraught at her parents' divorce, Andy cannot decide who she wants to live with. She spends one week at Mum's house, the next at Dad's, but never really feels that she belongs anywhere.
