About this deal

Mediocre battery life: 14 hours is enough for me, as I can charge overnight and am rarely playing 14 hours a day - that being said, it's not as good as competitors It has three major flaws in my opinion. First being you can't adjust the volume using just the headset when using the Bluetooth functionality with my phone. The second being I can't find a way to pause any media (audible, YouTube, etc) while using Bluetooth on my phone. The last is the noise cancelling makes a suction sound that I find absolutely unbearable. i feel more comfortable tossing these around (like into a bag, onto a bed, falling off a table or small daily accidents) I wish the pads weren't leather and/or at least had a fabric ear cup like my comparison headsets. Sound isolation is not bad nor is sound leak, not the greatest but average muffles sound to where there's plenty i don't make out sounds well but still hear them to know there is a sound. But when in use i don't even use the Active Noise Canceling because the isolation and volume is enough. They have good weight distribution for my head. I prefer some clamping force to relieve me from feelinge the head band too much. The 800 has a nice balance between the 3 sides. I wear glasses half the time and I've worn worse. I honestly can't complain about glasses with these. I've worn these for more than 10 hours multiple times. RGB on earcups: either a pro or a con really - I'm a middle aged man and don't need alternating pink and blue flashing on the sides of my head. The only person who would see it is me catching myself wearing the headphones in the mirror, and wondering what I've done with my life to be wearing these massive glowing cans in my 40s. JBL are renowned for their audio products and the Quantum 800’s do not disappoint! With a lovely rich wide sound, the 50mm dynamic drivers bring the visuals to life as you begin gaming. Every deep bass tone and high-end note are clear and perfectly formed. JBL’s QuantumEngine software lets you adjust a variety of features on the headset. It provides a 10-band customizable EQ with multiple presets, to start. You can also toggle DTS simulated surround, JBL’s own QuantumSurround, or disable simulated surround entirely. The colored lighting on the sides of the earcups is also programmable, and you can adjust both the JBL logo and the outer light ring to cycle through up to five different colors at various speeds. The microphone menu offers few options, but you can adjust the sidetone (how much of your voice comes through the headphones when you talk) in addition to mic volume. Microphone With up to 14 hours of battery life (having ANC on will drain this), you get a lot of gaming time between charges. Sadly there is not any wireless charging built into the Quantum 800’s. Therefore you must charge using the included USB C cable. Final ThoughtsWhen it worked right, it was the best headset I've ever owned. But the downsides are are too great for me to ignore anymore... The JBL Quantum 800 gaming headset performs very well with the sound and mic quality being both clear and rich. It is a shame that the mic boom arm seems a little flimsy and that there is no wireless charging. However, with those two minor details aside they are not detrimental to the overall product if used correctly. JBL kindly sent me down a pair of their Quantum 800 gaming headsets recently. After the niggle I had with the cable on the Quantum One, I was looking forward to this wireless headset very much. JBL Quantum 800 – Wireless Freedom! Memory foam ear cushions on the JBL Quantum 800 headset are covered in soft leather, providing comfort for marathon sessions, plus 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 connection for multi-platform gaming Spent been a couple hours trying to update it..only to give up and go to bed to find out the next morning it was up to date mysteriously.

The active noise cancellation is perfect for gaming if you either a) want to be completely immersed and b) do not want to listen to Paul Hollywood chatting in Bake Off on the TV in the living room. I did have another unfortunate moment that my fellow Thumb Culture staff can confirm while playing Phasmophobia. Because I was transfixed on the job in hand and was making my way around the dark house searching for evidence of the ghost. It’s a different experience than you get with other headphones, and may take a little while to adjust to. For example, sounds coming from sources in the distance will seem farther away, as they would in real life. Even though you might be used to those sounds feeling closer with other headphones, JBL QuantumSURROUND provides hyper-accurate spatialization that can give you a competitive edge. However, as I mentioned above, the real complicating factor in how the JBL Quantum 800 sounds are the surround sound options. Both the QuantumSURROUND and DTS:X 2.0 settings noticeably alter the audio profile of the headset, and not always in flattering ways. Turning on either setting means two things to varying degrees: mids get less emphasis, and everything else gets boosted, in slightly odd ways. With the DTS setting, it’s a little less noticeable—everything seems louder, for sure, but otherwise sounds normal.JBL Quantum Headphones Upgrade tool redefines your headphones experience. Through your macOS device, you can now conveniently upgrade the headset. Features JBL Quantum Surround sound technology which is engineered for accuracy and delivers immersive gaming audio for a competitive edge, so users never have to miss a step, shot or jump during gameplay. Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. There was a software update and it broke my headphones, they no longer power-on waiting for support as I no longer have working headphones...

The PC hub software is better than the arctis software in my opinion. Has all the same options plus a little more like saving more than 1 custom EQ. The JBL quantum does not work with any JBL mobile apps unfortunately. And unlike the other 2 i had no issue updating the JBL quantum 800.In music, frequency response like this means the sounds of bass guitars or bass drums will come through even louder. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, if you’re a big fan of EDM or even just songs where the rhythm section really drives the momentum. Clamping force: While the earcups themselves are soft and fairly comfortable, those with glasses will NOT like this headset. It really pinches your glasses between your ears with the clamping force, and is both uncomfortable and annoying as a result. If you don't have glasses this likely won't be a factor, not withstanding the overall weight of the thing. Signs that it may have been opened previously, Will update with further information but as of yet I am unable to test the device. It's finally cumulated in the right earphone outright breaking off from the support band when I tried to put the headphones on today. The top padding has also come loose.
