About this deal

Steven, who is widely admired for his meticulous attention to detail, draws my attention to a small dog in his portrait of Isabella Blow. “That was in Paris. At a small café in an alleyway by the studios where I was working. That was Azzedine [Alaïa]’s dog so of course we used him in the pictures.” This year saw the retirement of Roger Federer and Serena Williams, two names that have transcended generations and whose recognition goes beyond the confines of the sport. Nineteen-ninety-three saw Meisel’s first professional assignment in London where he collaborated with Blow on “Anglo-Saxon Attitude”. It was Blow, too, who first introduced him to Stella Tennant. “She had no interest. She had never modelled before. It just wasn’t something that she wanted to do. Issie just gave me all these different pictures of society girls that she knew. And of course, I fell in love with Stella, everything about Stella. What an incredible model. She gave everything and I adored her. She would sit there reading books in Chinese. We took her to Paris to work on Versace with Linda and Kristen. And Stella was like, ‘What the hell am I doing?’ It was Linda who said to her, ‘No, you’re great.’ And she really was.” All magazines sent by 1st Class Mail UK & by Airmail worldwide (bar UK over 750g which may go 2nd Class). She is particularly succinct when talking about playing for the flag, and is aware of the impact she might have on young Filipinos who might have similar aspirations of not just tennis, but of performing on a world stage.

The mindset is huge. She [doesn’t] give up. Sometimes there is a tough moment, she knows how to go [hard] with the mindset, and to put more intensity. I love to train her because she’s intense,” he says. “She’s asking a lot of questions when some stuff doesn’t work. She is always learning. She is always open-minded.” For Vaseux, the best thing about his young ward is her capacity for daily work. The time I met the Queen was at the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. I said to her, “I’m a Taurus,” to which she replied, “I know. We both are.” I didn’t know she knew that! On that day, I was focused on celebrating her. I wanted to be a part of the joy of the occasion, but I wish I had been able to have a conversation about change. It wouldn’t have been a stubborn one. I’m happy that I was invited to spread love that day, and I’m happy that God blessed the Queen with 96 years of life. Like I say in my song “If It’s Magic”, why can’t life be everlasting? Kanya King Whatever the routine of Miko, Mike adds, Alex would join in. “So she was at the tennis court at a very young age. When Kuya was playing with Lolo so nakikita na niya. So she’s exposed to tennis at a very young age,” Mike says. “But yeah, it was really more of a bonding thing with Lolo. He wanted to see his grandkids more often so parang yung strategy niya, turuan mo nga mag-tennis yan. So once a week, naging twice a week.” The exhibition opens with a small group of street photographs of passing women taken when Steven was in the sixth grade. Seen here for the first time, they are like mini-Garry Winogrands, and seem to hint at things to come. Steven is not so sure. “I think that obviously looking at those pictures from a 12-year-old’s perspective, I might have been dreaming of possible futures but no, I never thought that I would have a job as a photographer. Well, when you are that young you aren’t thinking about jobs at all.”

In addition to British Vogue we also have Italian, Spanish, Japanese, American, Indian and French Vogue so you can get a truly cosmopolitan look at fashion! The whole journey of going for a single purpose of winning grand slams, the majors, the pursuit of this in itself is like a huge bonding activity for us,” Mike says. “For example, the milestone win, the US Open. It’s so emotionally charged because it’s not just the moment, it’s that whole journey.” While having proclivities not unusual of any person her age—she likes to go shopping with friends, take trips to the beach, gravitates toward beige and pink athleisure clothing, binge watches Modern Family when she has the time—she comes off as relaxed and introspective, someone who considers her thoughts andAs for developing the sport itself in the country, Mike believes that the “best way to help Philippine tennis is to excel. And just show, be an example that the Filipino can do it. Na kayang gawin.” She was a brilliant leader with an unparalleled work ethic and deep commitment to duty. Thank you, Your Majesty, for the incredible legacy you have left behind. Erin O’Connor I think it really helped that my brother was there and my family was there,” she adds, referring to dad Mike, mom Rizza, and older brother Miko. “It helped me relax, and, you know, have fun, like, before the match and not really think about, you know, what’s actually happening.” You will feel supported by the people in your life going into the week, Leo, with the full moon in Gemini. You could have friends reaching out, or you may be organising a group activity. It could also be that the people you know are connecting you to opportunities, or you’re realising what friendships are most important to you. As Mercury moves into Capricorn, you may be thinking about how you can be extra productive, or you might be doing extensive writing or speaking for work. You could be more interested in taking care of your physical body too. Virgo Horoscope

When I curated the exhibition at the V&A in 2009, Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones, I really wanted to have some royal hats in there. I had a hat that Philip Treacy had made for the now Queen Consort, Camilla, and I also wanted to have a hat from the Queen and the Queen Mother. From the Queen, I asked if I could have an Hermès scarf, because I thought that was one of the most wonderful “hats” that she had ever worn. She wore it with a bow under her chin – she was the only person in the world who had ever done that. And I probably rehearsed with scarves for a month on a mannequin before I was able to tie it in the way that Her Majesty would have done it. I was very aware that it was a huge honour. The Queen very kindly chose the hat that the Queen Mother had worn on her 100th birthday to be in that exhibition, which was a very defining moment for me. I never made hats for the Queen, but to be involved in that way was a real honour too.You will be building self-confidence this week, Aquarius, with the full moon in Gemini. You may be leaning into a creative hobby or preparing to launch a passion project you’ve been developing. You may also be realising how you can build yourself up rather than comparing yourself to other people, and you’re showing your true personality in both social and romantic situations. As Mercury moves into Capricorn, your intuition may feel stronger, or you could have an interest in reading about topics related to spirituality or mental health. You might be calming your mind by journaling or meditating. Pisces Horoscope It was like, Oh! That’s all I had to do this whole time was be myself? Although it was a competition, it was a reality show,” she explains, “and I had never done one. Up until then we only had what the media was telling you about me. I loved meeting the kids because I so identified with their dreams—I just loved it. There were a lot of things that people saw through that show, but more than anything I think they saw my heart, that I was a cool, funny person, that I was a nice person. No matter how many awards shows you do or late-night talk show couches you sit on, people feel like you’re putting something on. With a reality show, you can’t hide behind a script or a four-minute interview. You’re out there.” You will be focused on yourself going into the week, Gemini, with the full moon in your sign. You may have realisations about what your desires and goals are, or you could be uncovering new interests you never knew you had. You may also be changing up an aspect of your appearance and putting careful thought into your style. As Mercury moves into Capricorn, you may be reflecting on your own behavioural patterns. You might be reading self-help or psychology books – you’re wanting to have intimate conversations with people and get to the root of who someone is. Cancer Horoscope The version of you that’s making their way out of the eclipse portal this month is certainly not the same version of you that walked into it. Change is good, Scorpio. It’s what you have been consciously manifesting for yourself. But, that doesn’t make it any less confusing. That doesn’t make it any easier to cope with. Do yourself a favour and practise stillness. Make peace with the clouds of confusion instead of trying to find ‘absolute answers’ or solutions. At the same time, give yourself the permission to find your authentic voice, to express how you feel in every situation. Re-evaluating the rules of engagement is something you’re being called to do at this moment. Plutonians who are in a dead-end relationship are being encouraged to move on. Remembering that you deserve will empower you to let go of what is no longer a vibrational match. That’s not something Ashley herself had, growing up in Surrey with her older brother and South Indian Tamil parents who’d emigrated to the UK. Raised on Disney and Pixar, she had a performative streak from a young age and was determined to be an actor despite having no industry connections. Her accountant mother and pharmacist father tried to instil a sense of academic discipline but she “failed at so many subjects”. At 16, she left school to attend sixth form at the performing arts institution Redroofs, before going on to ArtsEd drama school to study musical theatre. “It wasn’t right for me and I left after my first year.” She made the decision to move to LA by herself at 17, to pursue acting for real.

Her win in New York and the way she so methodically sliced through the field showed how much she has become stronger, physically and mentally, over the years. “I tried not to think about it a lot. And I tried not to think that I needed to win. I didn’t really have any expectations coming into it. That was what was different from the other years, I played match by match instead of [thinking of] winning the whole thing,” Alex, who turned 17 in May, tells Vogue Philippines. When she was a teenager, Simone Ashley would often spend New Year’s Eve alone, writing letters to herself. “I was a bit of a rebel,” the actor explains, half amused at her own self-seriousness. “I went to a predominantly white all-girls school. I didn’t fit in, there was bullying and I was wishing my life away.” She would remind herself to have perspective, that it’d all be over in a few years. “I would tell myself, ‘You’ll move away from this place, you’ll find your people and you’ll do whatever you want.’”After winning against another Czech, Lucie Havlíčková, at the US Open girls final, she asked if she could speak to the crowd in Tagalog. “ Buong puso ko itong pinaglaban, hindi lang para sa sarili ko, kung hindi para sa kinabukasan ng Pilipinas. So hindi ko lang panalo ito, panalo nating lahat,” Alex says, her voice breaking slightly. I was deeply moved to hear of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s passing. She dedicated her life to her country with great dignity and loyalty, and her remarkable 70-year reign spanned so many generations it is hard for those of us who call the UK home to imagine our lives without her. Although I was unable to collect my OBE from the Palace in person in 2020 due to the pandemic, she remains the reason that I felt so honoured to have received it in the first place. Donatella Versace Linda was over here yesterday, and I was trying to understand what it was about her. I don’t know. What is it about Linda, or what was it from the minute I met her? The first thing we did together was US Vogue. Linda gives blood, literally. She’ll stand on her head; she’ll do this or do that. Besides the fact that she’s a beauty. I mean, there are a lot of beautiful women that don’t photograph and aren’t photogenic and aren’t willing to create with you and do the process. Linda was always willing to do everything – and happily so.” I’ve met so many people who have come and gone… I’ve grown up here,” Alex says of Mallorca. “My brother’s graduation was here. I started high school here. I met all of my friends here. It definitely holds a special place in my heart.” (Today, Miko plays tennis for Penn State.)
