This is a totally respectable dupe of Tuxedo that gets the basic notes right, but in slightly different balance, and with a reliance on aromachemicals instead of naturals. I think it's a tremendous value, certainly when compared to Tuxedo. I think that "The Tux" gets closer to the proportions of the YSL original, but I prefer Kismet to The Tux: I just think that this is the better smelling combo when it's all aromachemicals. So far so good and bravo to Killian for putting on the market a brand that promises to provide a different kind of luxury, given the fact that he is the heir of a very long and quality industry of a totally different field - yet he chose to be involved in perfumery clearly because of pure love for it. I respect that. I mean, those two notes together are absolutely lovely...but nothing near what the note listing said for this fragrance. I'm guessing the "Vanilla" in it makes it as creamy smooth as it is. I guess I shouldn't complain because this is a completely dapper fragrance and I'm gonna wear the hell out of it, starting tomorrow morning, but yet again...I'm completely stumped as to what the actual fragrance notes for this TRULY are.

I was really excited with my buy until I returned home, got prepared for an outing and sprayed the fragrance on me. In the meantime, I couldn't find anywhere the smells of the other "Killians" that I had tested. Fragrantica editors have allocated this to the "Floral" category; if you buy it on the basis that it's a floral perfume, you are going to be desperately disappointed. Kismet is an Oriental. It DOES bear similarities to Shalimar (allocated to the Oriental Spicy category); they also smell as if they're from the same era. It may even be that the original Kismet helped inspire Jacques Guerlain's Shalimar, as it predates it by four years or so. This Kismet is more "user friendly" than the current Shalimar. I'd love to get my hands on the original in that gorgeous bottle, to compare it to its current formulation. For the price this is a steal, if you like this scent profile. And even if you don't , I don't see why not this fragrance cannot grow on you. However, I do love osmanthus. I’ve even been eating fresh apricots hoping they will taste as good as an osmanthus perfume, lol. Not yet. I swoon over the osmanthus dry down in Serge Lutens Bapteme du Feu, and I just wish Nuit de Cellophane was longer-lasting. Unique fragrances according to the side of your personality that you wish to enhance by emitting a particular scent.First spritz... And I was hit with an overwhelming scent of hairspray. Whuhhh. I was so confused. Can't figure out what's causing it. It just smells smoother now. How can something have a more powerful effect and sillage...but no lasting power or longevity!? Needless to say that in about an hour not me nor the people around me could smell the "GGGB" that I had bought and sprayed for the outing.

On my skin, the opening is a beautiful bouquet of fresh white flowers, enough sweetness, enough deepness without giving away the presence of wood. Petals everywhere. My father's birthday is coming up and he likes and wears the original Joop Homme. His bottle is running low so i contemplated in gifting Kismet to him since i already have a couple of scents i would use in similar situations. This morning i did a spray on my hand and let's just say i'll get him a new bottle of Joop Homme hahaha. My greedy self is keeping this baby! The tuberose note is reminiscent of salted meat and heavy cream, especially the moment when ghee (clarified butter) mixes with pork; it’s gourmand in the most unconventional way. A strange combination that is both attractive and repulsive to me. It’s like stepping into an Indian household after the owner had already prepared dinner and is now spraying air freshener to get rid of the scent.

Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. I am really enjoying this latest release from Lubin. Kismet is a delicious, balmy vanilla scent, super cuddly and perfectly suited to the cooler months. So I've found a new indisputable love - I mean to get a bigger amount of this as soon as I can, and I definitely see a full bottle of Kismet somewhere in my future. This is my second sample from Lubin, and the second one that's a big hit with me; I have to dive deeper into this house as soon as possible!

Its a really good, smooth fragrance for gentlemen. Versatile enough for casual wear AND formal wear but not necessarily a fougere or an aromatic and certainly not an ultra masculine scent. Instantly to me this scent evokes an image of visiting grandparents on a holiday like Easter or even 2nd day of Christmas or going to church wearing your sunday's best. Not because the notes are reminescent of the holidays i mentioned or of scents you might encounter at a church. Oh no no, not at all!. What i mean is those ocassions where you dress up nicely and make an extra effort to stay humble, polite and caring. It is not oldschool AT ALL but it reminds me of the carefree days of the past, when i was younger, on last day of school / highschool during the end-of-the-year festivities where we all wore uniforms or suits. Way before becoming burdened by adulthood's problems.Moustache is typically twice the price or more VS Kismet, and for that reason I think you are better off going with Kismet for the money. The difference is subtle, they are so close with Moustache having only slightly better performance and quality that it isn't even a factor in my opinion. The vanilla accord is at its most fascinating in the drydown of Kismet. On my skin, it is velvety smooth, sensual and dusty. Kismet is easily one of the prettiest oriental vanilla scents I have smelt in a long time. I don't, however, find any similarities between Guerlain's Shalimar and Lubin Kismet. Shalimar is far more powdery and has a much more prominent lemon accord. Kismet is its own stand-alone scent.
