About this deal

In a market flooded with cheap bivvies, the Nash H-Gun Strongbow is a serious contender. OK, it’s never going to trouble its established big brothers like the Titan, but for those just getting into the sport or for those on a tight budget, the Strongbow is the perfect choice. It comes supplied with two storm rods, and a removeable groundsheet and folds away into a carry bag.

The 190T polyester fabric will keep the rain off you whilst the PVC viewing panels allow you to still see what's going on in your swim whilst you remain fully protected from the elements. Supplied separately the overwrap converts the shelter to a mini bivvy and also features a roll up zippable door for easy access.A convient 5'6 when folded, 2.3m wide and 1.5m tall when fully erect. Easy travelling, summertime comfort, and the compact footprint that grants you access to secluded, rewarding swims. For mission-focused anglers who've heard the voice of the waters, thr Daiwa Mission Overnighter Brolly is the only short stay shelter you'll ever need. One of the features that set the shelter apart from those similar to it, is the storm peak. This adds additional protection from rain if you are sittting in your fishing chair with all your gear around you under the shelter. That said, there are a number of extras you can get for a brolly system including side bars, front bars and over wraps, all of which will aid stability and allow it to be used in harsher conditions. I’m a big fan of the old style oval brollies, and have used them myself extensively over the years. They are versatile, lightweight, and can be set up or broken down in a minute. Transportation is also extremely easy as they will slip straight into a rod bag or quiver. As to why you should choose a brolly system over other solutions? Well, in comparison to a bivvy it is much lighter whilst giving many of the same benefits. The doors on this shelter have 2-way zips that enable you to create a letterbox type opening that protects and allows for good ventilation at the same time. Verdict – A firm favourite out on the banks, the Trakker Specimen Brolly is truly versatile and adaptable. It stands up well to the elements and is extremely easy to use. Highly rated.

What makes this shelter stand out from the competition is the option to add a full mozzy infill panel and/or a brolly extension at a later date if required. Structured like a traditional fishing umbrella, the sides are useful. This helps if you’re fishing in windy conditions, or you need extra protection from the sun. The Easy Shelter Plus is an upgrade to the classic and, as such, is definitely a contender for the best fishing day shelter award. Rigidity is much improved, too. Rather than having thin ribs, most brolly shelters or domes utilise hollow frame bars, which are opened out and slotted together to give excellent stability. Some even offer additional tensioning poles which fit between the bars to increase stability even more, and thus you could fish into harsher conditions in relative comfort each year with greater ease than you could with an oval brolly. When extended fully, this bar offers increased rigidity throughout the shelter's interior space by providing extra tension all around its perimeter. The compact nature of the fishing shelter makes it slim enough to easily fit in your rod holdall with plenty of room spare for landing net handles and such.

We found that the Fox R-series brolly system is a really solid, well thought-out, and well-built fishing shelter and is a great all-rounder. As a general rule of thumb, the higher the ‘mm’ rating, the more waterproof the brolly. It’s also worth mentioning that you don’t want to be sitting or putting your gear on wet ground. A groundsheet keeps everything under the brolly nice, dry and protects against rising damp. The Daiwa Mission Overnighter come supplied with two strong storm rods. This gives the brolly the additional structural support that you’ll require. The Mission Overnighter also comes fitted with second storm caps, which are located on the sides of the brolly and can be used with shorter storm rods (not supplied). These are ideal for use in the windiest and wettest conditions, when you want that little extra support to prevent the brolly from flapping or shuddering in the wind. The Overnighter is also easily adapted to a full shelter system offering protection from all angles by fitting the matching overwrap (available to buy separately). This overwrap has easy access doors and can transform the brolly into a mini-bivvy, making this one of the most versatile systems available.I personally use a Trakker Pioneer Ultralite, which follows the principles of brolly design but has an external aero grade frame to offer better strength and stability. The Trakker Crossfire is another shelter designed to appeal to The Korum Day Shelter Lite is smaller and lighter than previous versions, weighing in at just 3.8kg. This has been one of Daiwa's best selling adaptable Brollies. The Daiwa Mission Overnighter Brolly is perfectly adaptable in all conditions such as warm weather or in showers.

The frame of the shelter comes already set up, so you don't have to spend time assembling poles and threading them through the tent's fabric. The Daiwa Mission is a traditional oval brolly type day shelter with plenty of features that really set it apart from other models in the crowd. The benefit of this shape of shelter is there is plenty of room to fit your bedchair, lengthways under the whole umbrella. I went fishing last Saturday and it pored with rain and when I got home I had take outside to dry as it was still soaking wet anyway not bad apart from the pegs. The best brolly system will have several important features. First of all (and it should be obvious) you want your brolly to be waterproof. Features such as taped seams and drainage systems ensure that it stays watertight. A detachable groundsheet is always a good feature in a fishing day shelter and the one provided here is of good quality.

Two telescopic poles serve structural purposes as well, acting firstly as a rear pole that slots into place at either peak or base. Two strong storm rods are also supplied for fitting to the front of the canopy as shown in the above image. The Strongbow is capable of withstanding gale force winds and monsoon like storms. The skin is heavy-duty for long term waterproofing and durability. It also features zip-able panels to expose mosquito windows, a rear mesh vent to enhance airflow, a storm window and a removable groundsheet.
