About this deal

I used two coats of the glitter, but Rustoleum suggests 3-4 coats. If I do that, I’ll need 40 cans for my project (15x25 ft room) and that feels ridiculous and expensive. For a sparkling effect, it may also be necessary to buff the wall when the paint is dry. This step enhances the effect of all glitter products, but it does take more time.

In the video, I’ve painted the glaze over a Clark & Kensington paint color called Silver Glamour, which is silver grey with a hint of lavender. According to the recommended mix ratio, the product doesn’t turn out much cheaper than the V1rtus. However, most users report that the product still provides satisfactory results when the same quantity is mixed with 1.5L of paint. And in this case, Hemway is more affordable, provided that buffing unleashes the desired sparkling effect. There is just one hitch, it requires a fair amount of pressure, it likely wont filter under its own gravitational pressure. use a large roller. I’ve painted this on using a brush, small roller, and large regular roller. The large regular roller has the most even application. On walls, the product covers up to 8m²/litre and dries to a durable, shimmering finish. On other surfaces, and especially on fabric, the coverage is considerably lower due to the absorbency of the material. The finish can also suffer alterations on surfaces different than walls.

The secret to a successful application of glitter additives or glaze is a vigorous stir of the product before application. Use a smooth roller and apply a thin layer of glitter paint or glaze to the surface with a criss-cross motion. Industry Connections: We maintain close ties with manufacturers and brands, offering insights into trends and upcoming products. My room doesn’t get sunlight so trying to find a light to show off the amount of glitter on the walls was difficult. I used a flashlight in the video and a led stage light in the photo, that’s why the photo is that gorgeous purple. The true color of the wall is in the video. glitter! the "pigment" in glitter paint isn't >300um talcum stuff, its <1mm particles, easily filtered with a broad filter.

Hemway Silver Holographic Additive is the low-cost alternative to V1rtus, a glitter additive brand belonging to the same manufacturer. The main difference between the products is the price, but also the covering power. In fact, the additive produced under Hemway’s brand has a recommended mix ratio of 100g to 1 litre of paint. Glitter additives are supplied as glitter crystals to mix with the emulsion of your choice. Some additives can be mixed in all types of paint, others are compatible only with water-based emulsions, while others are incompatible with speciality paints, even if water-based. Glitter additives and glitter glazes are designed for the same purpose – to add sparkles to walls and other interior surfaces. The difference is in the way they’re used.Whether you decide to use glitter additives or glaze, we still recommend painting the surface in the desired colour and finish with one or two coats of glitter paint or glaze. Surface preparation is therefore minimal. Independent: We will tell you exactly what we think of a product and we would never recommend anything we wouldn't use ourselves.

A smooth finish for your interior paint basecoat is important for most decorative projects, including glitter. In comparison, if your wall has a flat, chalky painted basecoat, decorative paints may “sink in” to the wall surface and lose the desired impact. Mixing the product with a smaller quantity of paint enhances the sparkling effect. If desired, you can tone down the shimmer by mixing the additive with a larger quantity of paint. Regular Updates: Our recommendations stay current with any changes in product performance or availability. Ideal for kids’ bedrooms, an accent wall, or even painted indoor furniture, people love glitter paint for the iridescent shimmer it provides over any base paint color. A beautiful base color will maximize the design effect of glitter, so be sure to use a premium line of paint that delivers quality results, like ben ® Interior paint. Choosing a premium basecoat/paint color ensures the beauty you are looking for in your glitter wall project.Glitter glaze is a clear paint containing glitter crystals. The glaze is intended to be used on pre-painted walls and it usually provides a more sparkly finish than glitter additives.

Coverage is similar to most wall and ceiling emulsions. The number of coats needed to achieve satisfactory results varies depending on your expectations. If the product is stirred well before and during use, two coats are usually enough to get a sophisticated shimmer. Choosing one product over the other is often a matter of preference; we prefer glitter additives because they can be mixed with the paint of your choice and are more cost-effective than glaze. Coming in 25 colours, the product is very easy to use. Just pour the contents of a pouch into the indicated quantity of paint, stir it vigorously, then apply the emulsion to the wall with a smooth roller. We followed these indications and achieved satisfactory results; however, some users suggest that mixing a small quantity of glitter with a small quantity of paint in the roller tray can enhance the end-results. Manufacturers rarely make blank mediums and when they do its overpriced and often full of so many additives its not suitable to mix with pigments or dyes because it needs to be diluted with actual paint. In short, not the best stuff for mixing paint with. it works, but plain and pure in this case is always better.

In the first picture I had just repainted my bookshelf a light grey concrete color, after Appling the glitter paint I noticed the color had changed, in the second and third picture it had become a peach pink hue color. The glittler paint is on there but its hard to see yhe glitter on camera. It's not a big change of color but you can definitely see the tinge of peach pinkish hue. So that kind of made me sad. I really liked the first paint I had put on the book shelf. I'm glad I wasn't doing a wall and then put this glitter paint on it after. The whole wall would of been peach pink. The glitter flakes are designed to mix with matt and silk emulsions but won’t mix well with speciality paints even if water-based. As such, the product is not quite suitable to use in the bathroom or kitchen. Gloss and eggshell paints also don’t mix well with this glitter. I found out immediately one of the key benefits of this pure acrylic polymer ( as its referred to in this state ), when mixing it into thermochromic pigment, a light fluffy and hydrophobic pigment (repells water like oil), this stuff, unlike normal gloss or matte mediums requires no machine mixing, it took in the pigment as if it were a polar solvent that "wets" the powder instead of just slowly blending in and gradually forming a suspension. While Benjamin Moore does not manufacture glitter paint, we believe that the foundation for any decorative project—especially a glitter wall—begins with an interior paint basecoat. Unbuffed, a pouch of additive is suitable for up to 1.5L of paint. However, considering the price of a pouch, we recommend mixing the quantity with 2.5L of paint and buffing the wall with buffing pads to unleash your new sparkling effect.
