About this deal

It opens objectively and bluntly (in a good sense) as an oriental fougere, with accords similar to leather. It shows a forestry juniper, notes of absinthe seasoning (Artemisia), and especially notes of anise seasoning (Tarragon). It is an almost unique opening that no one else does today and is easy to confuse with the lavender opening of the initial batches. From its first generation, it has maintained a "barbershop" aroma that continues to enchant old and new connoisseurs of good perfumes. In addition, this is one of the few perfumes I know that has maintained or improved its qualities over the years. Everything about this fragrance reminds me of that special time in my life in the late 1990s when the fashion epicenter was in Miami. I was planning a trip to south beach just to be a part of this scene and rub shoulders with the gods. Madonna was living there as well. The tropical decadence and glamour was alluring. Summer of 1997 rolled around and I planned a vacation at the end of August. Then the tragedy happened in mid July. I lost my job, cancelled all vacation plans and was fragrance free for months. I moved to Michigan from Ohio. The party was over. Then came the news of Princess Diana... The best tobacco scent combined with flowers (lily, iris and some kind of rose effect) and lavender in the heart mixed with soothing juniper! Faboulus! It's Unique and classic at the same time. It's quite an elegant scent in a beautiful luxurious bottle. I always get a lot of compliments with this fragrance. To be honest, I really worried about rose in this fragrance because it can be a difficult note for me, but thankfully the rose/geranium/carnation trio was well blended and it add a rich, lightly perceived, floral vibe to this scent. Just a pleasant light-tobacco fragrance. Due to several reformulations, current versions might not smell exactly like the original formula. Recent top notes include:

Blind buy worthy? Why not! If you get this gem for €20~€25 don't waste your time looking for decants.

AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION

It was a signature scent for bad boys, mafia, and bosses, especially in Belgrade (Serbia) during the ’90s where it was popular so much that it almost didn’t have any competition. Talking about the scent: I smell a herbal-aromatic note (Tarragon and Juniper) at the start that reminds me of lavender. It's harsh but vicious. After 10min the tobacco flower starts to appear along with other flowers (iris and lily) although it's not powdery neither feminine. After 1h the coumarin joins the game and the scent turns more sweet, alluring but still kind of floral. Kind of a plain scent to me (at least for the first hour, see below!). It' s like a much simpler, cruder version of Tommy with some amber sweetener and an impression of tobacco (cedar/tarragon/pepper?). My romantic soul feels as if i were a persian prince from the tales (like in the 1001 arabian nights) who's waiting for his secret lover under favour of the night in an oriental palace garden, under the million stars in the moonlight.... The Dreamer is a unique and special fragrance. So unique that even the tobacco is different from what you would be used to. It's a tobacco flower based scent. Also, it's the last creation under the direction of Gianni Versace shortly before is assassination.

Its well-demarcated fougere DNA does not bring this perfume closer to other fougéres of the 90s. It presents an enviable individuality and, after so many years, it still shows the influence that Gianni Versace had on it. I get a melange of floral notes along with the lavender throughout the life of the fragrance. As the fragrance dries down, the powdery tonka becomes more dominant and sweetens the flowers. The pungent tobacco note, which persists throughout the entirety of its lifespan, acts like a counterpoint to the sweeter and flowery notes. The fragrance stays on the fresher end of the sweet spectrum. Launched in 1996 (original edition), The Dreamer by Versace was created by Jean-Pierre Bethouart. It was also the last of Gianni Versace’s signature scents. I think that a lot of the hate that this fragrance meets with must be from people who are just not in the market for what it offers. I can't see that there's anything significant wrong with it. It's just that not everyone enjoys smelling like minty, clean-green, bright-white flowers reminiscent of lily-in-the-valley, and that those who don't may struggle to get past the opening of this one. The opening really does have an ethereal, almost preternaturally clean, bright, white character (or rather, air) that is fully consistent with the branding. Arwen Undómiel dreaming about unicorns. It speaks to a kind of innocence or idealism that in turn suggests youth. I think that it would smell great on some well-presented, charming, probably preppy young man in a well-pressed shirt--someone like a Mr. Ridley, if perhaps a little younger, but at any rate without all the bothersome psychopathy. It's almost too pure to be gothic but it is somehow arty, or art friendly. Wearing this, our hero could totally get away with reciting purple Walt Whitman poems to his band of kindred Dead Poets' types in some faux enchanted grotto while ogling the bashfully captivated girl he hoped might be the Sylvia to his Ted. Mystical emotions, romantic mood. I step instantly into an other dimension by smelling this scent and i'm always entranced by it!Dreamer is a nice masculine and any guy can wear it. Best in warmer weather because of its freshness. Feminine women love it on a man. But some hate it.

This is a potent spicy green clean fresh classic from Versace that is almost certainly Old Skool but with that touch of class. Versace , the creator of the Dreamer cologne, is a well-known distributor of fashionable and luxurious lifestyle products. These comprise jewelry, haute couture, timepieces, and, of course, fragrances. I would rate the sillage and durability as good, especially considering the price. The scent lasts for a good 5-6 hours. The last few hours then rather close The Dreamer opens with a dry lavender blast that finds warmth in mandarin orange notes and a dusting of Clary sage. It recalls the mix of smells one encounters in the Campo de’ Fiori in Rome around one in the afternoon when the morning odors of fruits mingle with the heated afternoon scent of herbs and flowers. In the opening you get a very nice Lavender mixed with Clary Sage then the tobacco and a touch of florals from the geranium and a touch of sweetness from the Rose. Finally the Tonka Bean sits there somewhere to make sure that everything is all held together smoothly.
