About this deal

This was something I didn’t feel through the first two books.. like AT ALL.. so it’s really hard to put my finger on the exact reason I felt this way through this book. All I can boil it down to is I just felt a disconnect with her character this time around. And I re-read the first two books before starting the third! I’m not writing this review to discourage anyone from reading this book because, let’s face it, if you’ve read the first two and don’t read the third.. you’re a monster. This review is honestly kind of me trying to sort out how/why I feel disappointed in the conclusion of this series. Also, maybe if I temper your expectations a little.. the book will turn out really great for you.

to conclude, ryland. nothing to say about him. joking. he was the less developed but i can already say he will be the one i will less care. he is that rude type of reverse harem guy that clearly doesn't know how to deal with his feelings so shows hate to the main character. (i kinda hate that) The only thing with this book was that it was more plot oriented than the first one. I personally am not a big fan of plot and prefer character and relationship development. While this book did have that, the driving force was the plot. There was nothing wrong with it and I actually was intrigued by what was happening, but I ultimately did enjoy this a slight bit less than first one. It’s not because the book was bad or anything, it’s just personal preference. eu estou escrevendo isso aqui sem nem saber porque eu dei estrelas. eu devo ter gostado de algo, mas nem lembro mais por motivos de ✨esse livro é totalmente ESQUECÍVEL✨ (depois de um tempo lembrei: literalmente a última cena do livro tem um super plot twist que eu fiquei OMGGGGGGG, but that was it) The plot parts were much improved. I think the cliffhanger we got at the end of this book wasn't quite as effective as the last book and there were some twists that just didn't quite work for me as well but overall it was much better and I appreciated the action. One thing I didn't mention in my review of the first book is that Ayla had one of her arms amputated 2 and half years before the main plot of the book. I don't know what it's like to lose an arm but there is so little attention paid to it that it seems like a weird inclusion. Many people who have lost limbs live very regular lives but Ayla seems to have zero issues navigating this fairly recent amputation and when she loses her prosthetic, she acts like it doesn't really matter, which is not what I think would actually happen. It just felt a bit off to me and made me feel like that aspect of her character could have been handled better. So again, I give this author props, because I kind of liked this whole plot. It was very twisted and dark. I mean, this is a book this isn’t real life. I like how the relationship continues to evolve with all the MCs. I’m not a prude by any means, you can’t be when you read reverse harem, but sometimes there’s just a time and place for sex and some of the times and some of the places made me roll my eyes. The storyline wasn’t bad. The turns the plot took were creative and while a few things were predictable, I wasn’t disappointed I figured it out before the characters.

I actually would've preferred to see the h struggle a teeny tiny bit with her physical issue. It's like the author forgot sometimes she was missing a partial limb.....there was one scene during sex in book 2 where I was SURE she forgot 😂 I don't think I have such balance and coordinating even with my two hands There was a level of corniness in this book that I just couldn’t get over. Major eye rolling happened. Ayla isn’t weak per se, and of course it’s important to promote a persons ability to overcome physical limitations, but the level of corniness throughout the dialogue overshadowed the attempt to give her character the strong willed vibe that she needed to have in the world she was dropped into. It felt really forced. At least for me. She always has so many stories swirling in her head and she has said that it feels incredible sharing those stories with others. However, unlike many authors, she never did have that one light bulb moment when she decided to become an author. men watch from the shadows. Watch her every move. One obsessed, one falling and one fighting for control - Marcus, Theo and Ryland. They watch. They wait. Finally they have to step out of the darkness and face the light. Face her. Ayla. The one who is so embedded in their heart and minds.

sweet obssession is not only romance. i liked the way the author wrote the plot of the book. we have a kinda of hunger games without the hunger part and more like rich people killing rich people and the winner will be richer. stupid things if you think about it but it was super crazy to read it. The second book does end with a cliffhanger, be warned! Hard to believe the next book will be the last. There's something rotten in Halston: there's a lot of twists and conflict going on in Sweet Retribution, and I can't wait to see if any of my predictions will come true or not. Umm, I seriously hope Marcus and Ayla aren't related. 😲 As in, hopefully Marcus doesn't turn out to be Ayla's missing brother. I mean, it seems unlikely, since Ayla's brother is supposedly younger than her, and Marcus is obviously older than her (and also the fact that Marcus's sister already died when she was just a young girl), but there's that certain passage (or two) that worries me and makes me think too much into it. LOL. Nothing like a little obsession to put some pep in a girls step (when it’s wanted of course). Then again it’s really the least she deserves after putting her life on the line for a handsome stranger. While struggling to get by heroine Ayla realizes that day two years ago still haunts her in the form of three dangerous men who just keep turning up. Ayla is very very brave though I would argue at times she’s a bit dumb too. She doesn’t think everything through but I think a lot of that has to do with her being unaware until the end what kind of world she’s now been dragged into. This book was fine. Not a bad start to a series, and it kept me reading, but there were definitely some issues, and I was left wanting a bit more at the end.
