It just so happens that the newest appearance isn't quite as innovative as you'd think. The Hot Wheels Speed Machines series has been a thing ever since 2010. Mattel wanted a different approach to the world of 1/64th scale model cars, so this line didn't include any fantasy machines. As the name suggests, Speed was the key feature so all of the collectibles released were either sports cars, supercars, or race cars.

The tooling for the car was completely updated in 2019; it features an improved interior piece and now features a post-post construction as opposed to post-tab construction. Hot Wheels, "Ford" and red and dark blue swooshes on sides; #67 in white disc, dark blue and red livery.

The initial livery of the GT40 Mk.IV casting resembles that of the livery of the real car which won the 1967 24h of Le Mans; the graphics of this release were done by Leeway Chang. This casting could be seen as a successor casting of sorts to the original Redline Ford Mark IV from 1969.The 2016 Ford GT Race casting depicts the Ford GT GTE, which raced from 2016 until 2019 in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship. It was created by Ford to return to racing 50 years after their first overall victory at Le Mans with the Ford GT40. Red & Blue Striping along top & sides. Blue Circle '4' on sides & trunk. The HOT WHEELS® Chapparal 2G racer was availbale from 1969-1971 and came in over a dozen colors. Look for the metallic pink version which is highly valued by collectors!
