About this deal

It’s drawn from the point of view of someone standing in the northern hemisphere facing south toward the Sun. Where the Sun rises in the East is on the left, and where it sets in the West is on the right. North is behind you. The second House refers to your own money and possessions, what you value, your hidden talents, sense of self-worth, self-esteem (how you value yourself, instead of describing your personality as in the 1 st House). Possessions include anything a person owns (except the house/home which is ruled by the 4 th House): cars, furniture, clothing, moveable property, investments and securities, etc. The 2nd house specifies how you gain and spend your own money (as opposed to other's money in the 8th house), your attitude towards wealth and material possessions, and your potential for accumulating it/them. Second House: This house represents your sense of self- worth andyour values, as well as most of your material possessions. It also indicates your financial affairs and habits. The second house relates to your health journey by demonstrating how you value yourself. Cultivating a deep sense of self- worth is critical to your healing journey. This is the work of the second house. House of the Moon is the Third House. It contains everything familiar to you. Brothers and sisters of course, but also the people you see around the neighborhood, or the coworkers you see every day. It’s also your habits and routines, and the places you visit on a regular basis – short trips to school or work or the grocery store. Basically it’s your comfort zone. The Moon was also associated with writing, and bringing the messages of the other planets down to earth, so the Third House contained those things too. Now, if you read our article on astrology charts, you already know, an astrological chart is a map of the sky.

Following is a brief summary of the areas represented by the twelve houses and the type of questions that you can find the answer for:

The First House of Astrology: The House of Self

The House of Jupiter contains all things which uplift and support us. Which, in a perfect world, are your friends. In medieval times this would be your guild. Now we think in terms of trade associations, support groups, even spiritual communities. Charities and philanthropy too. In astrology, this is the Eleventh House. The houses also act as the 'homes' of the planets in our natal charts, and the presence or absence of planets within the houses can help describe where we seek or deny the expression of that planet's intentions. Some houses have a nature that is more or less conducive to certain pursuits, as we'll discover. If you’ve ever looked up your birth chart, you’ve likely been met with the image of a zodiac wheel divided into twelve sections. Because all the glyphs and aspect lines are confusing, you probably just scrolled down to a list version of your placements. But the zodiac wheel is the actual birth chart! It’s where you find all the juiciest information. Those 12 sections of the chart are the 12 astrological houses, each representing different topics in your life. Ninth House: All matters pertaining to law, religion, long-distance travel and higher education and universities. Do you have delays in higher education? Should you be careful with the law? How is your attitude towards your own religion and other faiths? Do you have many long distance travels? Are you prone to vehicular accidents or while traveling? Do you an affinity for distant lands, foreigners, languages? Will you migrate to a foreign country? Will you have delays in publishing? The ancient Babylonian Astrologers were likely the first to use houses in Astrology but our first recorded evidence of the Astrological houses in use dates to 22 B.C.E. and was recorded in Manilius’ work Astronomica.

Bonus: if your natal Sun is here it may be ultra shiny and happy, as this is the 'House of Joy' for the Sun. And so the 12 Houses provide the answer to your most common questions; knowing these can take your astrology to a whole new level of sophistication.

It’s important to enter the city name only or the first several letters of the city in the Birth City field, not the country or state/province/region. For example, if you were born in Fuzhou, Fujian, China, you should enter “fuzhou” or similar and not “fujian” or “china.” It’s better not to overtype – for best results, type in the CITY name and scroll through the list for the correct city. While the 3rd house refers to an individual's need to understand his close and personal environment, the 9th house is an area in which one seeks to discover the significance of larger fields of social existence which one may not experience directly but which his mind may explore through the use of analogy, generalization and abstraction. The 3rd and 9th houses symbolize the 2 polarities of the human mind, the concrete and the abstract.
