About this deal

Temperature was 58 degrees F (yes, it is getting cold here). Measurement location is at sea level so you compute the pressure. A bevelled cabinet with a rear-firing bass reflex port, not to mentiona small footprint, allows for placement anywhere in your room, no matter how small. The T5Vcontains built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalisation, as well as multi-way analogue connections. Powered with a 50 W Class D amplifier for the woofer and a 20 W Class D amplifier for the U-ART tweeter, the T5V produces SPLs of up to 106 dB per pair. Each model in the T Series uses ADAM’s outstanding U-ART (Unique Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter) high-frequency drivers seen in their previous AX range, and feature an inbuilt DSP-controlled crossover and EQ, with multi-way rear analogue connections. I can say with confidence that the Adams are the best in this price range. They clearly sound as they are "upper shelf" equipment.

Two 3-way switches boost or cut respective low and high frequencies ±2 dB and also provide a 'flat' setting. These EQ switches let you tailor the frequency responses to fine-tune their performance when mounting them on shelves, a table top, or a console bridge, and at various distances from nearby walls. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Because, other parameters such as the age/materials of the building, furniture/windows in place also have an impact on room acoustics. The T Series is ADAM Audio’s series of professional yet budget-friendly near-field monitor range that has the same high-quality sound that they’re known for. These look incredible for the price. The tweeter adds contrast to the overall look, there are no visible screws in the front, the angled edges add curves to the design, without which this would have looked like a plain old boxy speaker.

ADAM Audio T5V Active Nearfield Studio Monitor Features:

With its 5” woofer the bass-frequency response of the T5V extends to 45 Hz. The new U-ART tweeter, a breakthrough solution for use in high-resolution recording and mixing on a budget, goes up to 25 kHz and is mated to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM Audio’s flagship S Series monitors. The waveguide’s highly uniform dispersion of high frequencies provides an incredibly wide sweet spot that frees you from being glued to a rigid mix position while working. In short, these are very, very good sounding speakers. Bass is remarkably deep and powerful, reaching down smoothly to around 40Hz before rolling off fairly rapidly, and the overall sound quality is smooth and detailed. Treble is a touch bright – and it remains so even with the high frequency EQ control set to its -2dB position – but it’s not unpleasant to listen to. Overall, I did prefer the T5V with a little bit of software EQ to bring down the top-end by a couple more dB, but it’s not essential: the rest of the frequency range is so balanced, and the bass so extended, that it doesn’t end up sounding overly sharp. The T5V offers connections for XLR and RCA accepting balanced and unbalanced -10dBV inputs. This allows for 3.5mm and 1/4-inch connections, enabling you to connect the monitor up to a mixer, interface, and more.

Many of the technical innovations implemented in ADAM's flagship S Series range have been leveraged for use in the T Series line. The design for the T Series' new U-ART 1.9 inch tweeter is based on that used in ADAM Audio's X-ART and S-ART tweeters employed respectively in the company's iconic AX Series and S Series powered monitors. The U-ART tweeter is mated to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM Audio's flagship S Series monitors.I performed over 1000 measurement which resulted in error rate of less than 1% throughout most of the range. The waveguide’s highly uniform dispersion of high frequencies provides an incredibly wide sweet spot that frees you from being glued to a rigid mix position while working. A beveled cabinet with a rear-firing bass reflex port and a small footprint allows placement anywhere in your room, no matter how small, and contains built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalization as well as multi-way analog connections. Powered with a 50 W Class D amplifier for the woofer and a 20 W Class D amplifier for the U-ART tweeter, the T5V produces SPLs of up to 106 dB per pair. Lightweight and Portable Right off the bat, one notices their size. They're bigger than you'd expect, so if you're tight on desktop space like I am, you might have to play a game of musical chairs with your gear. The build quality is robust, with a design that commands presence. At this price point, there are some concerns about tweeter hiss being audible – the basic internal Class-D amplifiers in this calibre of speaker often produce a hiss, even when nothing is playing – but the T5V are inoffensive in this regard. You can hear a hiss once you get up close to the speaker, but it’s not audible once you move around a metre away, and it’s completely inaudible once music is playing at even a low volume.
