But honestly, I totally loved Iris. She had loads of self respect. Was she insecure and naive at times? Sure. But at the core she was strong. Despite saying how hot Dex was about 10000x times she didn’t once act like she lost her brain cells because of it. This story was soooo good. This is my second Mariana Zapata book and this is even better than the first one. Iris is so cute, endearing and her internal rants are just hilarious. Passers by probably thought I was a lunatic for laughing out load whilst walking my dog listening to the audio book. The narration was great, but we only get Iris pov. Even so listing to it whilst reading made a good story even better. Julie James manages to balance these attributes with allure and charm in each leading lady she creates, such as in Stitches.

Oh, and I hate how much Iris felt sorry for herself. It made me feel less sorry for her because of it. Having gone through everything that she had, I would think she'd have a little tougher skin. But if someone so much as looked at her funny her lip started quivering. It just didn't feel believable that she could be that meek with that upbringing. I mean, I'm not even that meek and life ha I held up my hands and shrugged. “Eh.” I’d be a hypocrite if I said that I didn’t turn into a moody zombie on my period. The consensus of the books is usually that this one everybody loves. Even if it’s not a top favorite for some people, most still love it. The kids in the book were who help out bringing the story together. You will not regret this one for sure. 7. It’s not Grumpy Sunshine because they are both grumpy. I love all of these books very much, but the banter in love is the best. They are iconically funny together. They do not get along at all, but you get crumbs of them throughout the entire book, and you start to see that evolve. The figure skating aspect is also incredible. This is one of my best books, and it has been getting a lot of hype, as it deserves it. If you want to start with Mariana Zapata’s best books, it’s a very good one. 9. Luna and the Lie Her contemporary fiction like Something About You often includes relatable characters and focuses on everyday issues that most people face in their life, such as facing difficult decisions or knowing when to rely on someone you know.

I know Zapata books are famous for the slow-burn romances. I loved her other book Kulti which made me decide to read some of her other books. This book is selected for Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Romance. It follows Diana Cassius, who is adulting and finds it very difficult, the rest of us. She inherited two kids in a very painful way. She has a fantastic job. However, she does not have a boyfriend/husband. But does she need one of those? She thinks that once she meets a next-door neighbor, Dallas Walker, everything changes. This book once again also gets me giddy. Dallas is one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. Despite all the struggles that she goes through, she has managed to make it through two years without killing anybody and for that, she deserves a medal.

Dex and Iris make a guest appearance in Kulti which made me select this as my next read as I really wanted to know more about them.The most popular works from Christina Lauren are novels that follow young adults dealing with various life transitions, often brought about by heartaches or love interests, such as Love and Other Words. Iris, at first she took Dex's crap, while insulting him in her mind and giving knee capping rights to her brother, but soon she starts to stand up for herself and is not going to take his crap any more. I also loved the close relationship that Iris had with her brother Sonny. He was protective of her but not in an obnoxious way or OTT.
