About this deal

Glowing Eyes of Doom: Starts sporting these when he eats the stone left from Vil's overblot and growing manic. In Episode of Heartslabyul, Grim runs away after he accidentally charred one of the Great Seven statues and refuses to be caught by the headmaster again.

Loser Protagonist: Is considered to be this by most of the cast, as everyone they interact with can use magic while they cannot. Crowley ends up assigning them the beast tamer role in the prologue due to seeing that their ability to command the mages in battle could be useful, but admits that the function is mediocre. Everything I know about Twisted Wonderland is through friends who have played the mobile game that spawned this adaptation, so I can't give a fair comparison to said game, but I can say this is about what I expected when I learned there was going to be a Twisted Wonderland manga. From what I can tell, it's also a pretty close adaption.Badass Normal: Following Yuuken with Kendo, Yuuka does Judo and is The Ace of her school's Judo club. Protagonist Without a Past: Not much is known about Yuu other than them being from another world and that they're implied to be connected to Twisted Wonderland, after all. Protagonist Without a Past: Averted. Unlike Yuu, the reader gets a glimpse of Yuuken’s life before he’s forcibly whisked away to Twisted Wonderland.

While more than one manga adaptation was released for the game, MC has not made a physical appearance in any of them, retaining their status as a featureless protagonist that currently only exists within the game universe. Last-Name Basis: Downplayed. Yuuken's kendo club members refer to him by his last name. When Yuuken told Crowley his full name, he calls him by his first name. However, Crowley has no idea about Japan or their culture, it's possible Crowley thought "Yuuken" is his last name and his family name "Enma" is his first name. In the comic, Yuuken got transported to Night Raven College at the beginning of the ceremony instead of before the ceremony began like in the game. Disney Twisted-Wonderland stands out among the other Japanese-developed collaborations because of how unabashedly otaku it is. The game is a loose reinterpretation of classic Disney villains who don't actually appear directly in the story. Instead, they're portrayed as historical figures that inspired the original characters and dormitories of a magical academy. This allows the game to put all its focus into its large cast of pretty boys, who have the vibes of the Disney villains but not much else in common. The big appeal of the game is in spending time with the boys as the mystery of the world slowly unravels. I am, quite possibly, the worst person to be reviewing this book. Is it because I haven't played the game? Maybe in part. But the true reason is that I have what I like to call an Alice Problem - an unreasonable fascination with Lewis Carroll's Alice duology. Add in a knowledge of folklore and I know too much about the things this book is playing with.

In Prologue 12, Grim ditches Ace and Yuu because he doesn't want to finish washing all 100 windows. Adaptation Deviation: Based on what little the player does know about Yuu from the game's universe, the official comic version of Yuu does deviate a bit.

Kendo Team Captain: He was the vice captain of the kendo team before being kidnapped to Twisted Wonderland. Disability Immunity: In "Glorious Masquerade", Yuu being inherently magicless means that they are the only one safe from the parasitic Crimson Flowers that are sprouting about the City of Flowers while everyone present are targeted by the Crimson Flowers due to it's nature of draining magic from it's target. Pedersen, Erik (October 13, 2021). "Disney+ Slate Of Asia-Pacific Fare Includes Series Led By K-Pop Star Kang Daniel". Deadline Hollywood . Retrieved October 14, 2021. Series Goal: Yuu's ultimate goal is to return their original world after being suddenly transported to Twisted Wonderland. All while having to navigate through the personal issues of many NRC upperclassmen coming to a literal boil. For the third volume (Octavinelle Episode), a new character, named Yuuta Mito takes the role of the Prefect. Pineda, Rafael Antonio (October 14, 2021). "Disney Twisted-Wonderland Smartphone Game Gets Anime Project". Anime News Network . Retrieved October 14, 2021. I guess since there is a lot of Wonderland and villain respect/worship, that the world our MC was brought to isn't going to make much sense and the characters from there would not be rational the way we would see it, but it was just...a tad too strange for me to enjoy. Adapted Out: Yuu is absent from the official anthologies and is never alluded to by any of the characters, giving the impression that they don’t exist within the universe these stories take place in. They also don’t appear in the official manga and novel adaptations of the game's story, though similar characters with "Yuu" in their names were created to fill their place.
