About this deal

The new 2 nd generation mini hasn’t changed, at least not as far as the design goes. In fact, you could easily mistake it for the mini 1. The 2 nd generation Theragun mini how it compares to the 1 st generation mini. The sleek, sturdy device has four interchangeable heads (a bullet, a fork, a flat head and a soft head) and five oomph-inducing speed settings for more targeted recovery. The brand boldly claims it reaches 60% deeper into muscles than standard massage guns to banish deep-set aches and pains. Sure enough, it worked wonders on our tester’s sore, knotted muscles. They even felt a difference after just one use. We found the Mini 2’s sound to be similar to the Theragun Pro Gen 5 from our previous testing. Based on our usage, we believe there is potential for further noise reduction, but this is a positive step forward. The new mini (first photo) noise level is about 1 dB lower than the mini 1’s.

It no longer feels like a complementary device to the full-sized Theraguns. We were impressed to see how well-equipped it is and how significantly it has evolved during our hands-on experience. After spending time with the device, we give a thumbs up to Therabody for figuring out how to reduce the size and improve the sound quality. Inside there is a small pouch for the gun. It’s the same as the one with the old device, but smaller. The only visual difference is the logo. It’s Therabody now, not Theragun. Accessories We haven’t recommended it here as the best alternative because it’s weaker than the new Theragun mini. Our experts at the MH Lab tested the mettle of the best massage guns on the market. And, as the list below shows, they were more than up to the challenge. From our perspective, another area where the Mini 2 has improved over the Mini 1 is its Bluetooth connectivity. We found this new feature to be particularly useful. The Theragun Elite comes with five easy-to-clean foam attachments: Dampener, Standard Ball, Wedge, Thumb and Cone that are each best suited to treating a specific part of your body. The Dampener comes attached to the device by default and it’s super-soft, so you can safely use it practically anywhere on your body – even on tender areas like your arms. Massage guns can also be incorporated into your running warm-up routine to help loosen up your muscles, as well as during exercise to help clear your limbs of lactic acid and toxins.

The Sleep routine within the Wellness section, for example, is 12 minutes long and covers the whole body using the Dampener attachment. It’s a perfect way to relax your muscles before winding down for bed. Apart from sections for hardcore fitness addicts (like Workout Recovery and Studio Warm-Up), I was glad to see sections on Wellness, Ailments and Lifestyle with relevant routines. Selecting a routine tells you the total routine time, which body areas it’ll cover, and which attachment you need to use.Mini 1 has a 12mm amplitude. This is the highest among mini guns. Nothing has changed with mini 2. It also has a 12mm stroke length. 12mm amplitude is confirmed. No other mini come close. The new mini is still expensive and isn’t as versatile as Ekrin Bantam, which we still believe is the best mini around. This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or abuse, accident, liquids, including but not limited to, water or lotions, the attachment of any unauthorized accessories, alteration to the product, improper use, unauthorized repairs or modifications, improper use of electrical power supply, loss of power, variation in line voltage, dropped product, malfunction or damage of an operating part from failure to provide manufacturer's recommended maintenance, transportation damage, theft, neglect, vandalism or environmental conditions, loss of use during the period the product is at the Theragun repair facility or otherwise awaiting parts or repair or any other conditions whatsoever that are beyond the control of Therabody. While the mini 2 is easy to stall with its 20lbs. stall force, the Go 2 is even weaker. We figure there isn’t more than 10-15lbs. of stall force in the motor. Hyperice doesn’t say how much pressure their device can withstand. Yes we have seen some lighter devices, but those are often plastic and toy-like with very little power. We like to use the Ekrin Bantam as our benchmark for the perfect mini massage gun. The Bantam weighs 1.1 pounds – Theragun mini finally catches up! We voted the tiny Bantam the best mini gun, but Theragun mini 2 is finally catching up!
