About this deal

Another Peter Rabbit coin, Mrs. Tittlemouse, The Tailor of Gloucester, and Flopsy Bunny were the ones that came after them in 2018. Mrs. Tittlemouse went on her way to a distant storeroom, to fetch cherrystones and thistle-down seed for dinner. The image on the reverse shows a wide-eyed Mrs Tittlemouse rabbit, dressed in her familiar outfit and carrying a basket with her dinner. Mrs Tittlemouse is a terribly tidy little wood mouse. She is always sweeping her burrow, polishing and tidying. It is an endless job and it seems that no sooner has she made a good start than another messy visitor appears to leave their muddy footprints everywhere. She fetched soft soap, and flannel, and a new scrubbing brush from the storeroom. But she was too tired to do any more. First she fell asleep in her chair, and then she went to bed.

Oh deary me, never did I see such a smeary, honey-ish, mossy-ish, thistle-downy mess!’ she cried. ‘And such big, dirty, toad footprints - all over my nice clean storeroom! It will take me a long time to tidy this up!’The character of Mrs Tittlemouse first appeared in Beatrix Potter's children's book The Tale of Flopsy Bunnies' which was first published in July 1909. Let's explore the incredible story of this unique 2018 special edition 50p coin and learn about its value and rarity I really love the inclusion of the home aspect, and that home is a persons’ (or animals) sanctuary. I know it certainly is for me. It makes you appreciate taking pride and pleasure in your home. The illustrations are always beautiful and charming.

The Reverse image is designed by Emma Noble. Emma Noble had designed the 2015 coins to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter. When the Royal Mint issued additional Beatrix Potter coins in 2016, Emma Noble was again chosen to design them. Her designs were once again seen on 2017 and 2018 coins, including the Mrs Tittlemouse coin. Her designs were also featured on the 2019 collector edition Peter Rabbit coin.Mrs Thomasina Tittlemouse, a wood-mouse, lived in a funny house with yards of sandy passages among the roots of a hedge. She had a kitchen, a parlour, a pantry, a larder and she slept in a little box bed in her bedroom. She swept, and scrubbed, and dusted; and she rubbed up the furniture with beeswax, and polished her little tin spoons.
