Not only can’t people who own a set of Polys follow it, people who can’t afford them can’t even try to match the colors to give it a try. Can you please edit to include the color names? Reply There are some specialized sets of colored pencils that have been sold that are designed to focus on skin tones and other natural colors. A good example of this is Derwent Coloursoft Skintones Colored Pencils. This small set of 6 pencils all come in skin-colored gradients. They can create a great starting point but you will likely have to go in and make tweaks as necessary to get that perfect color. I am fully committed to colored pencil portraiture. I don’t use the same pencils but I feel knowledgeable enough to replicate your color pallet. I am amazed at the weird responses in this string. We are not doing painting by numbers after all! Many of my subjects are English & even cream is too dark for their faces. I really appreciate the tips you imparted above & I feel ready to implement them. Thanks Reply Thankfully, the days of combining regular colored pencils to reach a semi-normal skin tone are over. There are several options for skin tone colored pencils on the market these days, making it easier to create vivid, lifelike portraits. It’s also a good idea to see how colors react to the various solvents before blending a drawing. While solvent blends are appropriate in most cases, they may not produce the look you want. We start with swatching our colours so we know what we’re working with. Next, we’ll try 3 techniques. The first one (we’ll use the middle circle for this, so we can compare easier) we’ll use the 3 pencils only. Let’s do it! If you’re drawing things like water or glass or actual gems, you may not want to use a method that tones down the color. Then start in the darkest area of the face. It is always easier to make dark areas even darker afterwards instead of making light areas lighter. For example, if you start in the light area and it turns out to be too dark, it is difficult to touch up with an eraser later.

UNIQUE DESIGN】Angular shape prevents markers from rolling off smooth table top. It's easy and comfortable to hold it. The color number features on the cap. If you’re willing to invest in your art career or hobby, this set just can’t be beat. 3. Castle Arts Portrait Collection

You’ll need a variety of tones to do a skin tone drawing. Decide on your highlight color, your mid-tones (which can be two or three depending on the person’s skin and the hue of the light source), and a dark shadow color. Remember those specific pencils that you put to the side in anticipation of using for the skin colors? Grab your lightest one and create an extremely light outline. This will create the boundary of your skin. Keep in mind that if the portrait you are working on has bright reflections from lighting, there may be areas of the skin that end up being completely white. Take this into consideration when producing your outlines. The most potent of the solvent blends I use is turpentine, though I don’t use it very often. It works the same way as odorless mineral spirits, but breaks down wax-binder more completely. My experience has been a maximum of two blends before the solvent begins removing more color than it blends.Skin Tone Pencils - Skin tone pencil set includes 12 assorted skin tone color shades. No matter the skin tone you are seeking, this guideline for your set of colors should help you select the pencils you will need. The lightest colors you use will be your highlights, the colors you use for the darkest areas will be your shadows and the colors you apply in between these two will be your midtones. You can also include some accent colors if you are going with the advanced selection. But you will need to go with the 36-count set at a minimum (and preferably the 72-count set) to have enough of a “starting point” color selection. In particular, we have found that Flesh Pink, Salmon, Copper Beech, Felt Grey, and Pink Madder Lake colors are good for starting with (and most are only available in the 36 and 72-count sets). As we mentioned above, the larger sets will typically have fewer of these color gaps. You will be able to find a starting point that is much closer to your desired ending point. Also do not be afraid of “crazy” colors. Apart from the obvious skin colors, oranges, pinks, reds and browns, skin consists of blues and greens as well. And to be honest adding green or/blue can produce more interesting results, can give “dimension” to your skin. Otherwise, even though it is colored, your skin might look flat. For example if you use three shades of brown, the drawing will be monochromatic, the equivalent of using three shades of gray (just like graphite drawings).NOTE: I’ve received some nasty comments saying I’m excluding dark skin tones. If you read the article you can see that the specific colored pencils used here are too light to create dark tones. Use darker primaries if you want darker tones or read here how to create any shade of skin tone you want. Maybe YOU should shut up and have several seats! There’s no point of making a tutorial if the names are not listed. It is frustrating! Reply With this premium set from Faber-Castell, you get 120 colored pencils in all colors of the rainbow, including an entire row of 40 skin tone colored pencils.
