About this deal

In 10 years of filming inShetlandI've never seen it so lovely. The sun was out and it was warm and the beaches there are so beautiful...also there's a softplay now! So, life is complete. Craig, David (7 April 2023). "Shetland adds Downton Abbey, Holby City and Outlander stars to new cast". Radio Times . Retrieved 23 April 2023. Shetland announces Ashley Jensen as new lead". BBC News. 23 November 2022 . Retrieved 10 June 2023. She is a wonderful mix of an absolute hoot and a consummate professional. There were days when I laughed so hard my stomach hurt and I was in danger of crying all my make-up off. But we never, ever lost focus or took our eyes off the ball. Figuring out our chemistry together was an outright pleasure and I'm really proud of what we created together.

The broadcast of Episode 6 was delayed due to coverage of an FA Cup replay being broadcast. In contrast to Season 2 (three 2-part episodes), Season 3 is one 6-part story. I loved it actually but to be honest as soon as I read the first scripts I was like “I’m in!”. The writer [Paul Logue] has given everybody a rounded character even down to the hitmen, Howell [Don Gilét] and Nowak [Arnas Fedaravičius]. Just the nuance and the detail of every character is amazing. Finland: Viewers in Finland were able to start watching the show from August 2015 on public broadcaster YLE's main TV1 channel, where the show was titled " Shetlandsaarten murhat." [39] Calder and Tosh must team up and put their respective skillsets and knowledge together to try and find Ellen, which will take them on a journey neither of them could ever have imagined, with ever more disturbing twists leading them deeper and deeper into a world of secrets and ultimately, to the truth behind it all. Also starring are Alison O'Donnell as DS Alison "Tosh" McIntosh and Steven Robertson as DC Sandy Wilson. Lewis Howden and Anne Kidd are also principal members of the cast.On 2 December 2019, BBC One announced that two further series were intended for 2020 and 2021 with Henshall and O’Donnell returning in their roles. [4] Production had to be postponed due to COVID-19. Series 6 broadcast began on 20 October 2021 and series 7 on 10 August 2022. camera operator: "b" camera / second unit photography/b camera operator: additional photography / b camera operator / b camera operator: additional photography / second unit photography (12 episodes, 2014-2018)

post-production supervisor / post-production coordinator / assistant editor (13 episodes, 2014-2018) Tosh survives the blast but is reluctant to talk to anyone about what happened. The caravan's owner says he rented it to Connor. Pérez believes Connor killed Bryd and issues a warrant for his arrest. Visiting bomb expert DI Brookes thinks Connor had the knowledge to construct the bomb and might have links to a terrorist group. After talking with Danny, Pérez realizes that environmental activism was a theme of everything Connor did. Connor is found dead on the beach. At first it appears he threw himself from the cliff, but the autopsy finds he was tortured before being murdered the same way Bryd was. It appears like someone is trying to suggest that Connor killed Bryd and then himself. Abbie is suspicious of Martin and searches his room with help from her friend Clana, discovering a hidden camera card. Pérez and Tosh find the place – an abandoned church – where Connor and Bryd were held and killed. Sandy finds that Lloyd went to the same school as Rodgers under a different name. When Brookes gives Tosh a coat button that she'd lost in the explosion, she finally breaks down, calls Donnie and asks him to bring her home. Beacom, Brian (21 March 2016). "Interview with Douglas Henshall, star of new film Iona". Herald Scotland. Glasgow . Retrieved 14 February 2017.So it’s not Tosh that Calder has an issue with – it’s the two different approaches to work. Both are valid and, as they start to work together as a team, they see their strength together.

Pérez and the team discover that the person responsible for the deaths of Robbie Morton and Michael Thompson is closer to home than they had thought. Over the last 10 years, we’ve seen Tosh change from the chocolate vodka hungover new recruit to the temporary DI in charge…what’s that been like for you?Time is running out for Pérez and Tosh as their prime suspect lies critically ill in hospital, but it's unclear whether the fire that put him there was a drunken accident or if he was the second victim of Anna's real killer. The DI turns his attention to Finlay Caulfield regarding the photos of Anna on his camera, and while it becomes clear he was obsessed with her, it may not be enough to charge the stalker with her murder. There are still so many unanswered questions – until Sandy spots something on the CCTV footage that takes the investigation in a new direction. Lloyd tells Pérez he fled the United States after being framed for the murder of a police officer, a crime for which he'd be executed. Pérez arrests him for killing William Rodgers. Fertiliser of the kind used in the first bomb is stolen from a local supplier. Lloyd says that Rodgers appeared to recognize him in a local store but seemed to want to avoid him. Pérez suggests that he killed Rodgers, Connor – who knew his true identity – and Bryd to hide his secret. A date written on debris from the caravan explosion suggests a connection to the 1993 MV Braer tanker disaster. Pérez asks Sandy to look for local families or businesses affected by the oil spill. The camera card found by Abbie reveals Martin's photos of the local oil terminal, harbour authority, Bryd, Rodgers and Lloyd. Martin is actually DI Calvin Walker of the Counterterrorism Unit, monitoring a potential threat in Shetland. He suspects Rodgers – who'd been advocating for climate action online – Connor and Bryd were involved in an eco-terrorist cell. Tosh suspects a message in a library book cell members were using to communicate referred to Carol Anne Manè, an ex of Donnie's who had been asking him about Tosh and who works at the oil terminal. Carol Anne is arrested but denies everything. Ally Fleet, whose family lost their fishing business in the Braer disaster, aims his boat at an oil tanker heading for the terminal but veers away at the last minute. No explosives are found on his boat, but someone else is seen constructing a bomb. Pérez and the team are forced to re-open a 23-year-old cold case when convicted murderer, Thomas Malone, is released from prison. The case concerns teenager Lizzie Kilmuir, who was found strangled to death in a lime kiln on Unst Island. Upon returning to Shetland, Thomas tries to make amends with Lizzie's twin sister, Kate. Meanwhile, local journalist Sally McColl attends the Shetland Folk Festival with a group of her friends but doesn't return home later that evening. The next day, she is found strangled to death on a kiln, in what looks like a copy of Lizzie's murder. Pérez is forced to break the news to Drew, Sally's father, a former police officer who led the investigation into Lizzie's murder and now believes Thomas killed Sally. A group of men drags Thomas from his home and tries to bury him alive. Game Of Thrones star to join new series of Shetland". The Scotsman. Johnston Publishing Ltd. 9 April 2015 . On 20 July 2022, it was announced that Shetland would return without Henshall in 2023 for an eighth series. [5] Jensen was revealed as his replacement on 24 November that same year. [6] Production [ edit ] The stories take place largely on the eponymous archipelago, although some of the filming takes place on the Scottish mainland. [2] Most, but not all, exterior location filming takes place in Shetland; in 2021, filming of series 6 and 7 took place in Shetland in two segments, each of about six weeks’ duration. Interiors may be filmed in either Shetland or in west central Scotland. [3] This new series is so fresh. The heart of the show remains - the team that we know and love - but everything is shaken up by the arrival of Calder and the crime that comes along with her. Calder brings out a different side in all of us, she draws us out of our cosy comfort zones and challenges us to dig deeper. Ashley Jensen is phenomenal in the role. She has a softness and a kindness that is authentic and that means people trust her and will open up to her. This also allows her to get inside the heads of others, and to understand what might be motivating them and to make sense of their behaviour.
