The surface can be a bit cold to the touch. If that concerns you at all, I would recommend laying down a cloth (an old-school cloth diaper works great) as a barrier. That does mean you still have some laundry to do in the case of an accident, but it is still a faster change than removing a changing pad cover. At the end of the day, there’s no doubt this is an expensive changing pad, too. And ultimately, I do think both the Keekaroo Peanut and Leander are both great choices.

In terms of making changing diapers as comfy as possible for your little one, the Leander Changer is our winner, followed by the Keekaroo Peanut. Newborns can require a diaper change as many as 12 times a day, so a changing pad is a nursery must-have. This handy piece of equipment should ensure that diaper changing time is as safe and comfortable as possible for your little one. The best changing pad is one that's easy to use, easy to clean, and fits well into your space. Like the Keekaroo Peanut Changer, you can simply wipe clean the Bumbo Changing Pad and take comfort in the fact that its durable foam makes it hard for moisture to get through and cause mold or bacteria to build up. As a diaper changer, the Keekaroo Peanut is basically the “creme de la creme” because you can put it anywhere from a changing table to next to your bed thanks to its safety features that include a sturdy base and safety strap.

How we chose the best changing pads

To prepare for baby’s arrival, you’ve probably already started building a stash of diapers and wipes, but don’t forget about the other diaper-changing necessity: a changing pad. What if I were to tell you that there is a way to get a brand new Keekaroo peanut changer for a fraction of the cost?

These include car seats, potty seats, bath toys, bath-related items, breast pumps and accessories, bottles, cosmetics, diapers, feeding products, and more. These restrictions are in place to ensure the integrity of the products and protect the health of customers.A diaper-changing pad should provide comfort and safety for the little one who will spend a lot of time on it. Look for changing pads with features like a three-sided or contoured design to prevent them from rolling off, with additional cushioning to keep babies comfortable and protect their heads.

Weight restrictions. While theoretically you’ll want to keep an eye on baby’s weight to ensure you don’t go past the limit on these (usually around 30 pounds), realistically your kid will probably be long out of diapers and changing pads (at the very least doing standing changes) by the time they surpass the weight restriction. There’s little to no chance of mold or bacteria building up inside of the pad over time because is water resistant.

If you’re looking for a change pad that pretty much stays put in the nursery on your changing table, the Keekaroo (at 7 pounds) and Hatch Grow (at 7.5 pounds) are great choices. The material is durable, and does a pretty good job at resisting tears, peeling and full-on punctures in the surface. When compared to the other changing pads, the Skip Hop is about the same length as the Keekaroo, but an inch and a half wider – which is worth noting if you plan on using a dresser as a changing table. The level of softness of the Hatch Changing Pad may vary based on personal preferences and expectations. While the Hatch Changing Pad is designed to provide a comfortable surface for diaper changes, it might not offer the same plush softness as some fabric-covered changing pads. However, it is constructed to ensure your baby’s comfort during changes, and many parents find it to be adequately soft for its purpose.
