About this deal

Rand leads Egwene, Moiraine, Lan, and the Aiel to a Portal Stone outside Tear. Rhuarc points out the symbol for Rhuidean; Rand activates it. During his escape from Ebou Dar, together with Thom, Egeanin, and Bayle Domon, he meets Tuon, a Seanchan High Lady. When Egeanin names her Daughter of the Nine Moons, the woman he knew he was fated to marry, he could not leave her behind. He named her his wife three times, unknowingly completing half of the Seanchan marriage ceremony. Just like every other attunement other than Flamecharm, Shadowcast has its own legendary weapon called the Crypt Blade. It is an elemental greatsword found in The Depths, similarly to Shadowcast.

Bosom aside (and what a word, anyway) women are always thinking about how they look and what they’re wearing – or frequently what they’re not wearing - in Jordan’s vision. As one of the main characters puts it: “If the world is ending, a woman would want time to fix her hair.” Well – of course we would. He and Gawyn spar Matrim Cauthon and Mat beats the both of them with a quarterstaff. [3] Morgase comes to the White Tower and when she finds that her daughter is missing, she becomes furious. Galad and Gawyn manage to talk their way out of being taken out of the White Tower by her. Rand is surprised, however, when his previous traveling companion, Selene, reveals herself to be Lanfear, one of the Forsaken, and tells Rand to join her. Overwhelmed with jealousy against Ilyena (going so far as to call her a "pale-haired milksop", misinterpreted by Rand as jealousy against Elayne), she desperately pleads with him to join the forces of the Shadow, even stating her willingness to defy the Dark One if only he would be with her. As Rand furiously rejects her, the Stone of Tear is suddenly stormed by Trollocs and Fades, which are sent by the other Forsaken Sammael (though Lanfear did not have anything to do with this). Another Forsaken, Semirhage, also sent Shadowspawn to oppose Sammael's forces into the Stone of Tear. [1] Finally, Rand uses Callandor to send a lightning storm to kill all of the Trollocs and Fades, leaving some believing Rand has gone mad.

He meets Egwene al'Vere for the first time in the White Tower and develops an attraction to her. [2] He is concerned when the girls go missing and tries to question the girls on where they disappeared to. Rand and Mat journey with the Aiel to Al'cair Dal, following Couladin, who has said the Shaido will not accept Rand. Rand is accompanied by Aviendha, who claims to dislike Rand because he has treated Elayne badly. Despite this, she is told by the Wise Ones to teach him Aiel ways, which she does. After some time with Rand, Mat traveled to Salidar to "save" Egwene and see Elayne safely return to Caemlyn so she could take up the throne of Andor. However, once he arrived, he found Egwene to be the Amrylin Seat of the rebel Aes Sedai, and Elayne adamant about not going to Caemlyn, but instead preparing to travel on a mission to Ebou Dar. Since Mat promised to see her safely to Caemlyn, he had nothing to do but follow her to Ebou Dar and keep her alive. There he aided them in recovering the Bowl of the Winds before they were forced to flee by the invasion of the Seanchan. However, Mat was then injured during the Seanchan incursion badly enough to not be able to travel. Mat Cauthon unwittingly makes a bargain with the Eelfinn and almost dies for his trouble, but is saved by Rand. As part of the bargain, he obtains a Power-wrought weapon known as an asharandei, as well as a fox-head medallion which makes him immune to direct uses of the One Power. Finally, his fractured memories are filled in with flashes of memory and experience from hundreds of years of men, mostly generals and the like, making Mat Cauthon one of the greatest (if unwilling) generals of the present day. Around this time, Thom discovered that his nephew Owyn, was being pursued by the Red Ajah because he could channel saidin. Unfortunately, he was too busy with his duties to Morgase to find and help him.

Mat passes through the Twisted redstone doorframe in the Stone to get the answers for his three questions. He learns that he has to go to Rhuidean to survive and meet his fate. When protesting that the answers were unclear, he manages to get some additional answers saying his fate is to marry the Daughter of the Nine Moons, to die and live again and to give up half the light of the world to save the world. After being thrown out, he learns that Rand and Moiraine passed the doorframe as well, however, they refuse to reveal their questions and answers. At the Last Battle, Mat is given command of all the Light's forces and organizes a final stand at the Fields of Merrilor, where he defeats Demandred's army made of the combined might of the Shadow and Shara. After the battle, Tuon informs Mat that she is pregnant with his child. Now that she has an heir she could kill Mat if she wants. Mat grins and asks her 'Tell me, do you ever play dice?'. After Morgase became Queen in 972 NE, Thom became her Court Bard in the Royal Palace of Andor and renowned in the noble circles of most nations. During this time he was known as the "Gray Fox". [8] He later thwarted Taringail Damodred's plan to kill Morgase by killing him instead. He and Morgase became lovers shortly afterwards. The Shadow Rising contains 58 chapters and consists of 21 unique POVs and 95 individual POVs. It has a total word count of 385,415 words. Galad attends Morgase and Martyn Tallanvor's wedding ceremony with Berelain, which is carried out by Perrin. He then Travels with Perrin to Andor where he is reunited with his sister Elayne, who has now become Queen.Chapter 47 has four points of view, two of which are from Siuan Sanche's POV. Her first is 21% of the chapter and her second is 6% of the chapter. Despite their loss of Perrin, the Trollocs are defeated by the Two Rivers forces. The Children of the Light reneged on their agreement and sat out the battle, so Perrin and the Two Rivers folk force the Children to leave.
