There is less roll-off than on the HD6XX series headphones, and deep notes carry almost no distortion or noise. Just like with the NDH 20, Neumann engineers are doing wonders with the Sennheiser 40mm (or 38mm?) driver. I love the Susvara, but, i enjoy the HE1000 V2, Edition Xv2, and HE1000SE even more, as they give you that magical Hifiman soundstage. Those who are looking for a different sound, the 'Neumann" sound, in an open version will be pleased. And those who can enjoy a non planar tone, will enjoy the N30. There are many aspects of audio performance that can be measured, and the idea of manufacturer specifications is to guarantee that what you’re buying will measure a certain way. Some of these specifications are more important than others, and in the case of both microphones and monitoring systems, it’s easy to get hung up on frequency response as the be‑all and end‑all of performance. But is it?

The big circular ear cups give off a vintage broadcast booth/1970s home hi-fi appearance. Subjectively, I appreciate their classic elegant familial appearance and all-metal build. I also find them balanced and very comfortable for hours-long listening sessions. I also like how the cups surround but don‘t touch the ears. Having headphones tonally sound like calibrated speakers in a decent room has been the gold standard for developing target curves. The spatial resolution is impressive. The NDH 30 allows razor-sharp localization in the stereo panorama and makes the depth of the mix evident. To minimize channel crosstalk, the NDH 30 is supplied with a high-quality, cloth covered cable that is internally balanced. Pegelt man die Lautstärke identisch ein, könnte man fast denken man würde über die Abhöre hören, wenn in Wirklichkeit die Kopfhörer aktiv sind. Faszinierend! Der Klang des Neumann NDH 30 So what do they sound like, vs, how do they sound. Well, the how they sound is, i think, good. The "what do they sound like", is a more complicated . The listening experience is business-like, balanced, detailed and dynamic, but by no means “boring”. The NDH 30 avoids superficial listening fun by emphasising many consumer products. This also explains why I had to turn up the level a little more in places. In general, the NDH 30 is a workhorse that doesn’t strain acoustically, even during long listening sessions.
