Edinburgh itself is a well know ‘cycling city’ and we will reach out to the cycling community there, particularly female cyclists and their experiences in a male dominated sport and hobby. Overall, we hope to share the joy of cycling! As we mentioned, last year, the show had a successful run at Pleasance, London. However, the 2021 planned Edinburgh Fringe production was cancelled due to uncertainty around Covid19. This was a great disappointment to the whole creative team, as it limited the show’s potential to reach wider audiences and cut short the possibility to establish the new partnerships and exposure that the Fringe offers to artists at our career stage. Much of the book is about his struggle to be free of artificial limbs. I nearly cried as he describes being left in hospital aged two years for artificial limb training. He endures hardships that make me wonder about the sufferings of today's prosthesis wearers. He was expected to maintain a low weight to maximise efficiency of his limbs, leading to two miseries - his calorie restricted diet and squeezing into his limbs after his mum had fed him up in the holidays! The owners said they have no current plans other than taking some time off, but added there could be a future opportunity to revive the Look Mum No Hands name.

Through this week of action we want to make all of our roads safer by raising awareness and encouraging motorists to consider their driving behaviour – not only on the M6 but on all of our roads. Alongside its café, Look Mum No Hands also offer bike repair services through its workshop, and hosted a variety of cycling and non-cycling events. We have collaborated with National Highways on the Operation Tramline roads safety initiative for many years. We all recognise that being distracted while driving increases the risk of a collision and the potential to leave families and communities devastated, particularly with the sheer size and weight of some of the larger vehicles on our roads. We really welcome the opportunity to identify any driver who would put themselves and others at risk by being distracted, it is totally unacceptable.

This week of action alongside our partners will help drivers, operators and businesses better understand what they can do to help keep our roads safe. General enquiries Look, No Hands has just been programmed SUMMERHALL at one of the top Edinburgh Fringe venues, which has won multiple awards in its ten years as a festival and year-round venue. We are delighted to be making our Fringe debut here and reaching audiences from across the globe. The Guardian has named it “One of the world’s great arts venues” and we’re thrilled to be performing alongside a number of other prestigious companies at the same performance space this August. We already have a number of partners who are interested in this side of our project and look forward to meeting lots of new faces on the road! They’re a brilliant, inclusive cycling club and were really excited about getting involved in the development and exploration of female cyclists on stage.
