About this deal

What makes these super construction toys so unique to other toys is the huge variety of gaming and movie-themed sets available, featuring huge franchises from the world of movies and gaming. It's been a busy year for the Creator Expert (or 18+ theme, LEGO still isn't really clear on the status of Creator Expert) sub-theme Creator Expert Vehicles. Where in previous years we would get 1 or 2 new sets, I'm reviewing the third one for 2021 (fourth if you count the 77942-1 recolor of the 10271-1 Fiat 500). Construction toys don’t come much bigger, more fun and challenging than LEGO sets. These classic toys have been around with us since 1930 and it continues to be a hit with both children and adults alike, with its quirky pieces, figures and kits making it a truly one of a kind product. If you could skip bag 9, the build is very enjoyable. The build is sturdy and can easily be handled, and I enjoyed it a lot. There is a lot going on in SNOT and other techniques. The folding roof works great. The looks are great, but have soe issues. So it has a lot going for itself.

Customisable roof storage was an integral feature of many Volkswagen Camper Vans, hence this model provides space for two folding chairs above the cab. They are not connected using any studs, instead nestling perfectly inside a recessed panel. The arrangement looks effective, particularly because these bright red chairs contrast against the surrounding roof. Furthermore, the vibrant colour combination of white and medium azure looks great. Not only does that contrast beside past Creator Expert and 18+ vehicles, which is advantageous when displaying them together, but medium azure replicates the lovely 'pastel blue' bodywork shade that was available for the T2 Camper Van. Of course, the vehicle also comprises various parts which are newly appearing in this colour. Comparing this model with 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van reveals numerous differences, the most surprising of which is perhaps their sizes. The new version measures 34cm in length, comfortably surpassing the previous example that measures nearly 28cm long. This difference somewhat reflects reality as the T2 Camper Van is bigger than its T1 counterpart, although the extent of that variation is much too dramatic. Measures over 6 in. (15 cm) high, 13.5 in. (35 cm) long and 5.5 in. (14 cm) wide, making an eye-catching display model. That being said, the build experience for all three of those sets was way higher than what is on offer here. If you value the part count and final design over the enjoyment garnered from actually building the thing, then this should be classed as a bit of a bargain. However, the fragile nature of the build takes away from the sense that this is a premium product. — Pictures —

Slope, Curved 2 x 1 Inverted in Dark Orange (6339914 | 24201) introduced ín 2021, in two other setsWedge 2 x 1 x 2/3 with Stud Notch Right in Medium Azure (6296901 | 29119), introduced ín 2020, in three other sets The front indicators and small rear lights indicate that this model represents the pre-1972 T2a ("Early Bay") model. Echoing what others have said, I think that the look of the T2b with the high mounted indicators is more recognizable. It may be one of the oldest toy brands around on the market and it's one that’s continued to adapt, launching various collections and themed sets that add a new element to the building experience. Despite its bulky appearance it’s also a very delicate, and sometimes highly frustrating, model to build and move around. The features don’t feel particularly sturdy and can be quite a pain to open and close, and the fact bits regularly fall off just becomes annoying after a while.

I do agree the fitting of the front window is a pain and not very stable, and for me the front lights keep falling off! In comparison the rest of the van is lovely and sturdy The subject of today is the Volkswagen T2 Camper Van, the successor of the T1. To make things complicated: The entire series of Camper Vans is called Typ 2. The T1 is the first model in this series, and started production in March 1950, and the 2nd (T2) generation followed in 1967. The T2 is best known as the Love Bug, being used a lot by hippies (and other cultures) to travel from music festival to music festival, and as the perfect van to transport your surfboard to the beach. For some reason, I have always loved the looks of this van. I don't know what it is, but it just looks right. To be clear: I love the looks. No way I'm ever traveling in it. Most people would find the van 'cozy'. For me, that just means cramped. I'm purely going by looks. So as I said: I really want to love this set. The Set Whether you’re reliving past adventures, planning future travels or simply want to celebrate your passion for camper vans, you’ll love this LEGO® Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) model building project. Take your time building the camper van model then explore its detailed interior before placing it on display to remind you that there’s a world of adventure just around the corner. With LEGO pieces, safety and quality come first. That’s why they’re rigorously tested so you can be sure that the model is as robust as it is beautiful. It would have set the mood for the model beautifully, but instead it’s the same old box art that fans have been presented with for well over a year and a half now. Snooze.

Box and Contents

However, the most interesting sections encompass LEGO's history with Volkswagen and brief commentary from the set designer, Sven Franic. Sven discusses his familiarity with the classic Volkswagen Camper Van family and actually own this vehicle, which should undoubtedly prove advantageous when developing its LEGO counterpart. The designer's van appears with 10279 Volkswagen T2 Camper Van in multiple official images! I don't really understand why they chose to release another VW T2. IMHO opinion, the first generation is more iconic and the 10220 Lego model looked (and still looks) great! Moreover, I have some issues with this new model: Since this isn’t a minifigure-scale set, I’m sad to report that no minifigures are included. The build Despite the restricted space, this kitchen contains numerous important features which appear authentic. These include the rudimentary stove with a removable gas bottle underneath. I love the sand green kettle and the neighbouring flame also looks splendid, although trans-light blue would have been more accurate than this trans-orange component.
