Nonapeptide-3 Retina-Complex: This peptide, Myristoyl Nonapeptide-3, is supposed to provide similar results as retinol, but without the side effects (i.e. irritation) by increasing cell turnover and stimulating collagen.

Ethyl ascorbic acid is a derivative of vitamin C with excellent skin brightening activity. It is unique in that its chemical structure causes it to be a highly stable form. Hydroxyphenoxy propionic acid is designed to exfoliate the skin, reduce hyperpigmentation and impede future spots. Finally, phenylethyl resorcinol, also known as SymWhite 377, is used as a lightening agent by influencing the production of pigmentation. Hylamide SubQ Skin Advanced Serum, is formulated with advanced hydration complexes, peptides, and biotechnologies to hydrate the skin on the surface and below the surface while improving the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and skin texture. The Cosdna entry says there is one ingredient, ethylhexyl palmitate, that scores a 4 for comedogenicity.

Hylamide is formulated at a pH of 5.5 – 6.5, and is alcohol-free, oil-free, silicone-free, nut-free, vegan, and gluten-free. All Deciem products, across all brands, including The Ordinary, are free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, animal oils, coal tar dyes, formaldehyde, mercury, oxybenzone.

These complexes target wrinkles, fine lines, skin firmness, and elasticity. What I noticed after almost 3 months, was that my skin was looking noticeably clearer and brighter. I mean this texturally and skintone-wise. Here’s where wearing makeup is actually a GOOD thing, because you pay attention to your skin. What I was noticing was that I was using lighter and sheerer base (foundation) makeup, because I did not feel much of a need to correct my skin tone. I started all these gradually. I got my skin used to the Retinoid first ( Here’s my post about Retinoids). The Ordinary 2% Retinoid Serum hasn’t caused much in the way of irritation, but you may well find that you get some dryness and flaking when you start. Once the skin is cool, calm and collected you can introduce acids and vitamin C to take your skincare to the next level. Above all, I think this an excellent product, and in the big scheme of serums, it’s not wallet-bustingly expensive! 🙂I am terrified of whitening skincare products, because they dry me out to a husk, so I stay away from them except for rare exceptions, so I knew it wasn’t another product doing this. It was purely the job of Hylamide C25 Booster, and I loved it! My pigmentation is still there though. I may have noticed SOME lightening, but nothing too significant. Over time, maybe they’ll fade but I’m not holding out that much hope. They’re too stubborn! But the other parts of my skin had definitely brightened, with the edge of dullness taken away, and it does not dry out my skin. That’s so important when you are already battling drier skin to start! Hylamide recommend using C25 twice daily but I’m just using it at night at the moment, I don’t know how my skin would cope with Lactic Acid and Vitamin C at the same time.
