About this deal

Domesticated Dinosaurs: One man seen in the first issue is depicted riding a theropod like a cowboy even as it devours numerous people.

Combo Platter Powers: Wang wishes to become whatever he needs to be to survive in the world forever changed by genies and for the abilities he needs to protect whoever he's with. In response, his genie gives him a futuristic combat suit, Charles Atlas Superpower, a variety of weapons including two Power Fists that shoot powerful beams of energy, and a wide variety of skills from martial arts to being able to speak English to hotwiring a car. Reality Warper: The genies can make practically anything happen so long as the wishes are worded properly. Their abilities can completely ignore conventional logic and physics, making functional Humongous Mecha, giving people superpowers, and even turning the moon into a ravenous Genius Loci. They even mentioned offhandedly how they could create hundreds of new realities to accommodate the wishes of leading politicans to have their countries rule as a superpower, but they call it far too much work to do so, instead choosing to anull all those wishes. The series delivers hilarious moments while also diving into thought-provoking themes. It explores the nature of humanity and the choices we make when given the opportunity to have our deepest desires fulfilled.

I always tell people that the most creative and original storytelling is being done in comic books. It seems like the most innovative ideas are being explored in this medium. Eight Billion Genies is the latest thing I've read that reminded me of that. Starting on the fateful day when 8 billion cute tiny genies pop out of nowhere and latch themselves to each living person on Earth, granting each person one single wish, it then proceeds to tell the story of the craziness that transpires after that. The Man in the Moon: The Moon now has a face, a huge mouth filled with teeth, and eats anything that gets close enough to it.

Eight Billion Genies” is a captivating comic book series that combines inventive storytelling, compelling characters, and imaginative artwork to explore the ramifications of unlimited wishes in an engaging and thought-provoking way. Summary

The writing by Charles Soule is witty and engaging, capturing the essence of each character and their unique wishes. The artwork by Ryan Browne adds to the comedic tone of the series, with vibrant colors and expressive illustrations. The collaboration between Soule and Browne brings the story to life and keeps readers hooked from start to finish. If you have read Browne’s God Hates Astronauts or Soule & Browne’s Curse Words, you will be familiar with the two’s trademark humor and style. Eight Billion Genies is no exception with a ton of humor (especially hidden in Browne’s artwork). The book also contains a lot of heart throughout, especially in the last few issues. Nigh-Invulnerability: Will wishes for his bar and anyone and anything inside it to be completely immune to the effects of wishes made outside it. As a result, even a fire-breathing carasaurus pounding on the roof fails to scratch it. Who Would Be Stupid Enough?: Ernest asks why anyone would wish for a volcano to erupt, much less eight of them all named "Mount Doom", complaining about how heavy that Foreshadowing is. In the same scene, Ed asks why a child would wish for Robbie's school to be turned into chocolate. Robbie's genie responds that they don't try to explain wishes, they just grant them.

Deathbed Confession: When Robbie's superhero friends are killed by a particularly powerful supervillain, Robbie has a breakdown because at 12 years old, he's too young to process all this death and destruction. The seemingly-adult King Power tries to comfort Robbie by admitting with his dying breath that he's only 11. Daisy, lead vocalist for the Bada-Bings. It's implied that her tontine wish (with Alex and Brian) made her immortal as long as she doesn't use the wish. A Dog Named "Dog": All of the genies respond to the name, "Genie". No mention is made of how they don't get each other mixed up, but they can be summoned for advice or to make a wish simply by calling their name.Fountain of Youth: Unsurprisingly, a common wish among the elderly is to be young again. While a simple and helpful wish, it unfortunately deprives these folks of a wish that could have protected them from the rest of the chaos. First - the art - it isn't bad but isn't something that grabs me. The art isn't a problem but it also isn't a selling point for me. In 8 Billion Genies, the world is thrown into chaos when every person is granted a genie and one wish simultaneously. The series follows a group of characters as they try to survive and make sense of the “Genie-pocalypse.” Each issue covers a different time period, showcasing the initial moments and the aftermath of the wish granting. The story culminates in the eighth issue, which explores the first eight centuries after the appearance of the genies. Review

All Wishes Granted: This is the premise of the comic, as all eight billion people on Earth are suddenly granted one wish each. In the minutes after the genies appear, at least eight Mount Dooms appear in various places worldwide. It's the type of captivating tale that I love to read, one that uses a speculative high concept to comment on human nature, morality, and society's destructive tendencies. The ideas here are always interesting and I love the direction the story takes. While Wang and Lifeng are discussing what to do with their wishes, their genies pass the time by thumb wrestling, only for Lifeng's to cheat by increasing the size of their thumb. Billion Genies is a thrilling and humorous comic book series that offers a fresh take on the concept of wish fulfillment. Charles Soule and Ryan Browne deliver an engaging story filled with entertaining characters and unexpected twists. The series explores the complex nature of human desires and the consequences of unlimited power. Immortality: The final issue takes place 800 years after the events of the first, and three characters survive to the end:
