About this deal

You can use pure henna and indigo safely on any kind of hair whether it’s been bleached, dyed, or permed. And you can use it pretty much straight away, except in the case of hair that has just been permed or is about to be permed – here we suggest a gap of 2 weeks either way. Other than that, you’re safe to go, but we recommend a waiting period of two weeks. The only reason for the wait is: 1. to rid your hair of chemical build up and 2. to allow for the best possible colour take from henna and indigo herbal hair dyes. Henna and indigo is for all hair types Mixing your henna: If you have pure henna instead of premixed henna, you'll have to mix up your dye. Adding certain ingredients will change the outcome of the dye's colour. There are guides on how to mix henna and video tutorials you can watch to help with this part. Pure henna creates more of a red hair dye. But, a combination of other ingredients produces different shade results, from strawberry blonde to brunette. There are so many shade choices, and here at Closer, we've made it easier for you by rounding up the best. Closer's best henna hair dyes at a glance: Rich enough to stand out, but not so vibrant it looks unnatural, Auburn tones can range from a hint of coppery red on dark hair, to rich russet hues on mid browns and natural reds. The first time I used henna, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I highly recommend working the henna through your hair in the bathroom– ideally standing in a dry shower, so you can rinse away any mess when you’re done.

I do my roots every few months, as they don’t seem too obvious on dark & slightly wild hair. Pulling the excess mixture through the lengths and ends just before rinsing is enough to boost any fading. Natural henna hair dye is found in the leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, and has been used by people in the Middle East and Asia for centuries. Henna is a permanent hair dye. The color is most vibrant for the first 4 to 6 weeks, and in my experience it starts to gradually fade after that, but I’m not sure it ever goes away completely. So I have come up with my solution. I applied the dark brown only to my roots and cut off my green/ previously blonde ends and finally got the look I wanted. The grey has come out as highlights and it looks natural, with a tinge of auburn. I use a wide art brush for application which makes it easier and leave the mix on for 2-3 hours. I do find however that I need re-application every three weeks as the grey closer to the scalp seems to fade significantly faster than the ends. It’s a bit more labour intensive, but the results and chemical free application make it more than worth it. Not too mention I am no longer washing those chemicals into the environment. My hair has never been healthier and the added shine is a bonus.MASSAGE THOROUGHLY. MASSAGE THE MIXTURE TO ENSURE THE PRODUCT IS THOROUGHLY WORKED INTO THE HAIR AND IS EVENLY SPREAD. LEAVE FOR ANOTHER 5 MINUTES. We’re passionate about the fact that plant hair dyes are the best chemical free hair dye .Pure henna and indigo are pure and natural herbal hair dyes, and may naturally strengthen your hair. They are considered to be hair and health friendly. These herbal hair dyes blend with your hair to give natural hair colour. The safest hair dye brands will always use 100% pure plant ingredients.

The first time, i used too much liquid and the henna ran all over place – all over me and the floor and everywhere. Just awful. Since then i’ve been replacing the water with 1/2 chamomile tea and lemons i squeeze on the spot. And i don’t use nearly as much liquid so it usually doesn’t drip anywhere. And i buy a plastic shower cap because the “cap” that comes with the kit is useless, imho. And after a thorough rinse and conditioner right after coloring, i follow the instructions and wait and wash it out with shampoo the next day. Unlike synthetic hair dyes that chemically change the structure of your hair, this plant-based dye is non-invasive, gently coating your hair shaft with a semi-transparent, semi-permanent layer of colour. The final colour will partly depend on the colour of your hair underneath, making it lighter where your initial hair colour is light and darker where your initial hair colour is dark. Some companies use stale henna that doesn’t do the job. And some add perfume to their henna colours as well as clove bud oil. A product with perfume added is no longer 100% pure, and clove oil is a potential irritant as well as having the potential to interfere with colour take. Greek author & philosopher in Athens (427 BC – 347 BC) Pure Henna for Hair – Definitely the Best Chemical Free Hair Dye !Disney best captured the ‘spirit’ of auburn best with its character ‘Merida’ from the movie Brave. Fiery, independent, and untamed. Those who choose brighter auburn as their hair shade of choice certainly aren’t looking to fit in. For as longs as I remember I’ve had scalp issues dandruff, itching, and greasy hair within 12 hours of washing. About 4 years ago I switched to sulfate free shampoos and the greasiness and most of the itching and dandruff went away. After using henna though I noticed my scalp has had zero issues. It feels SO happy now. We do not recommend essential oils in a henna or indigo mix for hair. Beware additives in henna and indigo mixes because they will enter the bloodstream though the scalp and can cause side effects. That includes caffeine in coffee. We recommend you ditch the additives and go for pure henna and pure indigo to get the best colour take without additives.

tip- If the mix dries out on your hair and becomes brittle, it can cause some breakage, particularly with fragile hair. If this is an issue, and the cowpat starts drying out before you’re ready to rinse off, lift the cling-film, spray with a little water, replace cling film & briefly massage the water into dry area* Ensure you have enough time to develop. Henna stains the hair, unlike chemical dyes which alter the molecular structure, so it needs to be left for much longer to take effect.

1. Is Henna Good For Your Hair?

For the first two weeks it bled every shower. It bled blue with shampoo and orange with conditioner which I wasn’t too fond of but it’s cool as long as my hair didn’t fall out or turn green. The color bleeding and fading I’m guessing is connected, once the bleeding stopped so did the fading. Which is why I gave it 4 stars but that’s still pretty good. Since it’s been 2 1/2 months my hair has grown and the line between hennaed hair and unhennaed is barely noticeable. I used cassia on my hair about 2 months in to help blend my roots in more. I’ve used this pre-treating method very successfully when wanting a more noticeable outcome. I’ve also used it just on the ends, before using henna all over, for more vibrant ends, in a dip-dye effect.* Henna – Why Hairdressers Love to Hate Henna ! and why Compound Hennas ( pre-mixed metallic salt henna colours ) are BAD We’re sure you’ll love the new transformation. At The Henna Guys, we pride ourselves on using pure plant-based naturally grown and chemical free henna. Since this is a natural dye, henna will NOT lighten dark-colored hair, and individual results may vary based on hair type and your current hair color. The dye may take a few days to darken to its final result. It is recommended to wait three days to see the final color result. First Time Henna User?
